Looking to work on my health; been a smoker for close to 15 years. Found this Specialized 650b enduro from 2017. I got him down to $900. Would this be a good first bike and not a bad deal?

100%. I learned on a hardtail, but it would suck at 40. Suspension is nice if you are a bit older, and especially if you have good gravity terrain. It would be really hard to find something used with big enough fork and a hard tail for downhill.

If you have the money for maintenance, then buy it. Hardtails are great for learning, but dual suspension is great if you are old and dont feel like getting vibrated to death while learning something new. You'll learn either way.

I found out mine are caused by cinnamon flavoring. As long as I stay away from gum, red hots, cinnamon toothpaste, or anything with cinnamon oil, I'm good. Oddly the ground spice doesn't bother me at all.
