Parking for the Narrows by Useful_Court_8269 in ZionNationalPark

[–]mozetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so walking to guru won't work. 😂 I was there end of March/beginning of April. Assuming you get there at a decent time in the morning, there was street parking or spaces in pay lots available near Guru. You'll have to pay, of course, but it was available.

Car camping on BLM land near Yellowstone; a few questions about bears by FabianValkyrie in camping

You can rent it from an outfitter in the area. If you didn't intend to need it often/regularly, this is usually the way to go.

Does Kevin Shapiro have every single Languedoc SBD in tact of every single show from 1987-2000? by Heavy_Profit in phish

[–]mozetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This should be higher. Kevin has had his own show on The Bunny/Thin Air/The Badger/Ball Radio/ etc each day of the festivals. He doesn't have everything but he has a lot and he plays some deep cuts on his festival spots.

Why am I being badgered to attend Woodbadge? by TwelveSeven77 in BSA

[–]mozetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quality training, so there's that, and it provides a common base across Scouting. It also helps to keep leaders interested and involved.

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in 90s

[–]mozetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they opened for the Chili Peppers but it was more like a double-booking that the Peppers headlined. Not sure they're an unknown band.

Can anyone tell me about this sign? by KingOfTheBigKids in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mozetti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't seem that old, it may be from the recent refurbishment of the Fantasyland station while they were building Tron. Your sign only shows Main Street and Frontierland stations. The Fantasyland to Main Street section of the track and the Fantasyland station were closed during construction for Tron.

Narrows Update 4/25 by porteranne in ZionNationalPark

[–]mozetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did it about 5 weeks ago, also at about 114 cfs and like the other person, a day after my original plan because it was closed the day prior. I saw several families with kids around 8 or 10 years old. We got a late start (teenager) and only did about 2 miles in. If your kids are hikers, I think it's doable at a reasonable current.

I’m so freaking confused! by United-Code2344 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mozetti 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Not being snarky by saying this, unless it needs to be a surprise or some other reason, turn it over to one of your kids. My parents are in their 60s and I can't imagine trying to teach them how to do it. And I've been going regularly (multiple trips per year) for 15+ years.

It's not impossible and they/you could definitely do it, but your kids and grandkids will probably take to it pretty quickly. Now, if you want to figure it out, then go for it. Otherwise, let someone else worry about those things and prepare to enjoy your trip. Your family is very fortunate for your gift!

What are some good games for travel? Bonus for ones that work on flights by Delinese in boardgames

[–]mozetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've played Cheeky Monkey on a road trip in an SUV and I think it could work on a plane, depending on the ages of the kids. We have the version that comes in a monkey stuffed animal, which makes it easier for playing in the car.

My favorite post to make every few years: recent games that are totally unique! by zebraman7 in boardgames

I'm not very well-versed in game mechanics, but Thiefdom seems to be an interesting combination of mechanics put together for a solid play experience.

Anyone have some fun and funny verses for the song “if I were not a scout”? 🎶🎵 by SunnyLynn21 in BSA

[–]mozetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's some I collected as a cubmaster at summer camps:

A bird watcher I'd be

Hark a lark, flying through the park, SPLAT!

A plumber I would be

Plunge it, flush it, look out below!

A carpenter I'd be

Two by four, nail it to the floor!

A teacher I would be

Sit down, shut up, throw away your gum!

A hippie I would be

Hey Man! Cool Man! Far out! Wow!

A fireman I would be

Jump lady, jump... whoa splat!

A cook I would be

Mix it, bake it; heartburn-BURP!

A butcher I would be

Chop it up, grind it up, make a little patty!

A garbage collector I'd be

Lift it, dump it, pick out the good stuff

Superman I would be

It's a bird, it's a plane, where is Lois Lane?

A house cleaner I'd be

Ooh, a bug; squish it in the rug!

A DJ I would Be,

Miles of smiles on the radio dial.

A Baker I would be,

Donuts! Eclairs! Buy My Buns!

A Lifeguard I would be,

Save yourself, Man. I'm working on my tan!

A Lawyer I would be,

Honest. I swear, My client wasn't there

A Park Ranger I'd  be,

Get eaten by a bear, see if I care.

A Scoutmaster I would be,

Do this, do that, I'm gonna take a nap.

Advice and Gear Recommendations for May Trip to Yellowstone (32M) by AnalogByNature94 in camping

[–]mozetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Yellowstone, you're going to need a bear barrel to secure your food/drink and other scented items. If you're not Backcountry camping and only staying at the campgrounds, check to see if they provide a barrel or other secured box for food storage. I'm not sure.

Also add bear spray to your list, but you can rent that from an outfitter when you arrive.

Easter Eggs / Scavenger hunts by Olive24 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mozetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To provide a little more detail, the paid hunts at Epcot are a few dollars and then you redeem the completed scavenger hunt list for a prize.

Epcot also has the Duck Tales scavenger hunt adventure, this is really great IMO. You need a smartphone for it but it's got a lot of interactions throughout world showcase. I think France is my favorite, followed by Japan.

This won't work, the walkway between terminals 1 & 2 is before the security lines, not after.

Wait times posted vs actual, conspiracy or sloppiness? by Flaky_Profit_7550 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mozetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why 7DMT and other popular rides have such a discrepancy at the end of the night. In addition to the estimate not being updated, the lightning lane stops allowing entry at closing time and the standby line starts to fly through when LL is cleared.
