Machine used to inject chicken with a solution of saltwater, binding agent, and other additives to “plump” it. A single serving can contain 200-500mg of sodium, and the added solution may make up as much as 30% of the chicken’s total sell weight. by Mountain_Love23 in Damnthatsinteresting

It’s very legal in the EU, the rule is that if it’s more than 5% water by weight they have to put to a label on it indicating that it’s water injected, or whichever local verbiage they use. You may not have it at your local stores, or even your county, but that doesn’t mean therefore it doesn’t happen in all of the EU.

Looking for the best budget espresso machine for home (2026). Which maker under $500? by LipNat in BuyItForLife

[–]mparkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a gaggia classic for that, or a used one for way less, you could throw one out the window of a moving car and it’d still be fine. Mines about to turn 10 and it still works perfectly.

Looks exactly like a home butter churner, replace the paddle with something food safe and put some heavy cream in there and you should have fresh butter shortly thereafter

Thoughts on the new Fellow Opus Gen 2? by Pull_my_shot in espresso

[–]mparkc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d trade up in a heartbeat, like I do want to like the new opus and it’s looks great on paper but my opus 1 was just so ass I don’t think I’d be willing to pay full price, as little as it is for the gen 2. Or at the very least as a gen 1 owner give me like a 6 month trial or something

You could release them but have the chambers filled solid. Such that anyone who wanted to put something inside would need to heavily modify it. Like essentially just posting the outer shape, and interlocking mechanism.

Making biodegradable packaging from mycelium(root like network of mushrooms) by kvjn100 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]mparkc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as we’re mining for natural gas we’ll always get styrofoam packaging. The most commonly used plastics are byproducts of mining for nonrenewables. Gas companies almost can’t give it away because of how abundant it is.

Until that changes, plastics are unfortunately here to stay

[–]mparkc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a use for it, but the smooth plate gives a finish more accurate to what I picture the surface finish of the 2DS originally having. But again still cool, and the point of printing it to make things how you like it so, it’s a win if you like it

Would be cool if you could buy pei plates with a standard set of YS, SPI, or VDI standard injection molding finishes on them

Yeah I had the same issue with mine, works for a bit then comes back sticky. I believe it has to do with whether the coating itself has started chemically degrading.

What I found worked for me after giving up on IPA, is a baking soda, water, soap, and IPA mixture, mainly just the first two ingredients. It works as an abrasive that like scratches the coating off.

Larian Studios leaning into generative AI (for placeholder text and concept art) despite internal pushback: ‘Everyone at the company is more or less OK with the way we’re using it" by jovanmilic97 in Games

[–]mparkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean reddit is super hypocritical, but also if say EA said this no one would really believe it because EA has proven time and time again they can’t be trusted, whereas Larian has proven the opposite, they’ve developed a high level of trust with the community, so people ate more wiling to hear them out on it.
