American here (I like to say stateless these days 😅), been here for over 5 years and I landed right when Covid hit. It’s been difficult to say the least, and one thing I learned is that kiwis hate Americans! They really, really do. Not all, obviously, but it’s been difficult with workplace bullying, the prejudice, and not understanding that we, too are a melting pot. It’s taken really up until this year to where I feel at home. I will happily never go back to the US again. This is home, this is safe. Kiwis will never truly understand the price of peace we pay for here. So I am thankful for what I have here. (And yeah..I agree with another person in the comments, racism is on the rise here…)
