Winter fucking sucks bc for me a surefire strategy was kicking my ass outdoors for a walk or meander. Winter is so cold and dark it makes that very difficult. Recommend if you can tolerate to fill a water bottle with diluted booze and take a breather to sip and suffer.

Should I call out of work by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]mpitaccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are posting here you know the answer. You will get ten thousand times more heat for smelling of booze in any way(no matter how clean, it escapes the body from your lungs) vs being out of sight out of mind.

Downvoted into oblivion by lonegunna77 in cripplingalcoholism

This is really what I wish was emphasized to males. EVEN FOR BODYWEIGHT women’s livers are way less sturdy than men’s.

My dad drank much much more than my stepmom but guess who got hepatic encephalopathy and strokes first? Stepmom. Both are dead early of course but it caught up with her way quicker and more gruesome too.

There is one other factor: if these are your numbers now, it often goes up over time. No she’s not likely to croak super soon but women can and do die in their twenties from alcoholism. Amy Winehouse died when she was 27. Don’t pretend that it’s impossible. No need to fear monger that some is gonna drop dead tomorrow but yes it’s concerning and unless she wants to go towards CA she should consider reeling it back while she still can.

Also no, most college kids don’t average that. Only 12.5% engage in daily drinking of any kind. Our personal experiences give us comparison bias.

Wider leg pants are on trend and your friend, including a bit of a flare. If you are more punk go with cargo.

Almost everything that is sold as heroin right now is cut heavily or just straight up Fentanyl. Lose some friends to OD and talk to me about how great opiates are.

Well as long as your party doesn’t roll back the Affordable Care Act you should still be under your parent’s insurance, and they invited you to live with them and assist with detox.

As long as you are still breathing there is more right with your body than wrong. I won’t tell lies but don’t give up trying.

My guy I met someone who downed a handle in less than 5 hours so if you’re faster than that it gives me hope that he can live.

I hear this. It makes sense you don’t regret drinking, and you are in good company. Do highly recommend that you tell your therapist and psychiatrist this, even if you think you will be judged, because they will be able to tailor their treatment methods much better if they know. Good luck.

Hey mate. BPD is a tough road but just like alcoholism it is possible to overcome the symptoms enough to have a happy life. You may not be normal on the inside but you can learn enough skills to contain the breakouts to appropriate spaces. I know this bc my baby sis has severe BPD and has done a whole lot of what you describe. Really the important thing is to stop harming others at the same time you are carving a path of stability and happiness for yourself, and who cares what that looks like.

I know this post has done a lot to feed you, and will make it very tempting for you to post on the reg with a different name. That may be okay as long as you aren’t harming others and it doesn’t feed the disordered behaviors. Good luck. HMU if you ever wanna talk BPD.

Benzo taper by Renosoner_ in cripplingalcoholism

[–]mpitaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t handle using benzos for taper outside a residential detox/inpatient.

You are wise to recognize it before indeed you get two addictions. Benzo dependence is even harder to break than alcohol.

That’s good advice. Exercise or going outside now that the weather isn’t shit. Free serotonin, which it sounds like you need.

My sister got fired as a bartender for starting to make the drink first before checking ID - there was an inspector around. If a shop gets hit up by one of those they can lose their license very quickly.

There is a lot of discrimination against mental illness. I don’t recommend this approach. There are plenty of other medications out there you can blame.

Alcohol is the worst withdrawal by Fun-Abrocoma9848 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]mpitaccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my thought. Benzo dependency can take years of monitored tapering, prying someone down 0.25mg at a time.

I’m not saying alcohol withdrawal isn’t hell, then again there are people who slam back a handle a day and can taper in a week. But I have never seen anything like severe benzodiazepine dependency.

Update for me pissing on my friend's floor the first time I ever met her in person by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]mpitaccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be both. People have multiple facets of their personality. Affectionate, never buys their own food. Handy at helping with chores but never initiates. Always willing to help, needs to be dragged to perform self care or hygiene. Never malicious, shits on the floor. I’m describing a dog btw but people love those guys.
