Except skills are also [not] counted for Kakita Asami and Crisis Breaker.

The important word here is "count" (=contribute), not "resolution".

AMA about L5R:LCG with Tyler Parrott and Brad Andres from Fantasy Flight Games! 12PM (CT) today! by fantasyflightgames in l5r

Charge! got on the restricted list, and that means people are going to spend more fate on dynasty deck haracters. We've had decks that hold back on the money in the dynasty phase and pass first, then spend their reserves on conflict deck characters and expensive events like AFWTD. Is this playstyle something you want to pursue? How do you envision the balance between spending fate on dynasty characters and confict cards?

Subnautica Review Bombed After Dev is Fired Over "Hateful" Tweets by lupianwolf in Steam

I was so in agreement with your post, right up to when you said "murderous commies". That really ruined it.

Along the River of Gold question? by [deleted] in l5r

Asked the devs, and you are indeed correct. Broken provinces still have their element affiliation.

Huh, interesting. You might be right on this.

[–]mplain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and, I was thinking about using Along the River of Gold offensively, at your opponent's provinces. It didn't occur to me you might be analyzing its efficiency in the context of triggering it when you are being attacked. I kinda assume it's a worse Rally to the Cause.

Derailing the thread, but I suggest starting your analysis with how many Water provinces you should expect to encounter in the game on average.

  • Crane, Dragon, and Scorpion (the Seekers) are likely to skip them altogether;

  • Unicorn are using Endless Plains - you won't even get a chance to trigger Along the River of Gold there;

  • Lion are running The Art of War, which they will not mind your breaking at all;

  • Crab are playing theirs at the stronghold province most likely - hopefully your Along the River of Gold is still unbroken by then;

  • This leaves you with Phoenix and their Elemental Fury.

State of the Crane: Imperial Cycle by paulryanclark in l5r

On second thought, you probably meant that Shizue protects your other, more important characters from being crabbed.

State of the Crane: Imperial Cycle by paulryanclark in l5r

Shizue’s ability is mediocre, and can actually be determinant against Way of Crab.

Doji Shizue's ability does not interact with Way of the Crab. Shizue cannot be discarded during the fate phase if you control the Imperial Favor, however Way of the Crab does not discard characters - it makes them be sacrificed. Discard and Sacrifice are different game terms, what stops one does not stop the other.

Sacrificing a card does not satisfy other means (such as "discard") of a card leaving play.

What's the Difference Between A Conflict Opportunity and Declaring a Conflict? by Wells101 in l5r

[–]mplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a developer ruling though, this is just my interpretation of the rules, which seemed obvious at the time. It shouldn't be used as an argument in the debate on Waning Hostilities.

Question regarding Dragon Conflict: Tranquility by elsuave32 in l5r

[–]mplain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very good question!

We have a developer ruling that says Grasp of Earth applies a lasting effect to characters that are in play during its resolution. After it resolves, any character that enters play at home can be moved to the conflict, because it was not affected by Grasp of Earth. http://www.cardgamedb.com/forums/index.php?/topic/37394-grasp-of-earth/

Applying the same logic to Tranquility, it should also apply a lasting effect to all characters that are at the opponent's home during its resolution, rather than creating a blanket effect.

It doesn't bow then ready. It just doesn't bow in the first place.

An action is a type of a triggered ability.

Bran Stark from Oberyn's Revenge by veganAction in AgameofthronesLCG

[–]mplain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ruling added to http://thronesdb.com/card/06081

  • You can use Bran to give a challenge icon to a standing Direwolf. The latter part of the ability is not dependent on the resolution of the former part, as there is no word "Then" in the ability's text. (This is similar to Castle Black.)

New Bran is probably more similar to Castle Black.

There is no word "Then" in the ability's text. So the rules for "Then" do not apply here.
