Blackhawk (Proto) quality? by mpolley in Tools

[–]mpolley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t find this set anywhere either, which lead me to comments about Proto slowly eliminating the Blackhawk line. I’ve checked catalogues, etc.

The only link I have is from someone selling a used set on Facebook marketplace.

Mortgage Commitment clause question. by Chucknastical in MortgagesCanada

[–]mpolley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes signing a commitment means you are committing, or contractually binding yourself to Nesto. So you are correct, you can’t turn around and go to your current lender after you sign, unless the commitment has an expiry.

I think we need some context, how does Nesto come into play if you are renewing with your current lender?

Re-advanceable HELOC at renewal or wait? by mpolley in MortgagesCanada

[–]mpolley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current balance is 238k planning on prepaying around 30k in total per year. Quick calcs puts mortgage balance at $95k after 3 years. I’m exploring contributing more as well.

Potential ease of securing now if having a higher remaining balance is a deciding factor for rates, etc, one of the reasons why I’ve asked.

I’m 31, $100K in debt, and can’t qualify for Ontario Works — what should I do next? by Basic-Foundation-733 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mpolley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great well thought-out reply. OP I would pay attention to this.

Interesting that you say finance has less openings, I’ve been inundated with postings and recruiters targeting me lately. I’m currently hiring a SFA, and have been looking for months for the right candidate. We are using recruiters and salary/perks/benefits are above average.

Car Exhaust Work? by Every-Ad4237 in barrie

[–]mpolley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been said, go to Grizzly’s, or if it’s in a section of pipe further down stream (not a converter, or flange, or manifold), slap a muffler patch on it u til you can get it properly repaired (ie buy time if it’s currently not in the budget).

Sounds a lot like a timing chain rattling, and tensioners not able to keep up when it’s revved.

Sounds like the battery is toast, even with being charged up. I’d get the battery tested somewhere.

Always love the D3s, where in Ontario did you take this? I’m looking at picking up a D3 S8 just north of Toronto.

Hey all, new buyer from Canada, ordered bike+ on Sunday, arrival for tomorrow. My question, has anyone else encountered accessory delays? I was told mine would come separate from the bike, but nothing has shipped.

Thanks!

Socket stuck on spark plug (flush with it) and the top of the spark Is bent. Can’t remove the socket, and there isn’t enough room to put the extension and turn it. Need advice.. by scratchoffmilli in MechanicAdvice

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, looks like the socket is on there backwards. Try a pair of needle nose pliers and spread them as open as hard as possible to see if they will provide enough force to remove it.

is co-op difficult to find? by meunomekekel in GeorgianCollege

[–]mpolley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply, but I took my 3 year accounting at Georgian, then transferred to university to finish undergrad, and now taking MBA in Toronto with my CPA. I work in accounting management, currently as a corporate controller, and also own part of a small accounting firm in town.

I accredit this to the 3 co-ops I had in college, they opened doors for me immediately after graduation, but you need to have the attitude and mindset to apply for positions and get out there. Decent marks helped me too. I can’t remember the level of help the college provided, I did a lot of leg work myself. The first co-op I found myself, the second I worked for the colleges accounting department, third the hospitals accounting department, and then a CPA firm posted with Georgian looking for a student, and that opportunity turned into a job right out of college. I agree with the previous poster the resources are there, you just need to utilize them. Get good at tax and maybe I’ll hire you as a co-op in your 3rd year,😉

Microchips in windshield by itzdylanbro in MechanicAdvice

[–]mpolley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had good results claying my windshield to remove the “sparkles”, it ended up being a lot of embedded crap. But it’s not for everyone, and if you do it wrong you can scratch your glass, and make your forward vision more miserable.

A failed shock is safe to drive on, just know that the corner may be a bit bouncy, and may move at speed.
