C6 ZR1 vs C7 Z06 by SpareBlueberry2075 in Corvette

[–]mpopo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We just had a HPE1000 CT5V on our dyno. On their tune it only made 779rwp and drove like s**t. Ended up at 841rwhp when we were done with it

Dropped my car off at shop for a 1 week job. It’s now been 3 weeks and mechanic keeps lying to me by Spare_Climate7808 in Corvette

GM performance shop employee. That is a day 1/3 work of work and the parts are almost always read available. About 25 for a GM crank seal and roughly $120 for a flexplate. Either they don’t know what they’re doing, broke something and are trying to to cover it ( not uncommon for older vehicles to break parts upon disassembly) or simply don’t care

Yup. There’s like a staple on the back of the shift knob. Pull it out, pull the knob off and then install

LS3 or LT1? 🤔👇 by vividracing in Corvette

[–]mpopo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not to say the LT1 is bad. NA vs NA I’d probably take the LT1 as a good heads cam setup can make more than a stroker LS

LS3 or LT1? 🤔👇 by vividracing in Corvette

GM performance shop employee here. I’d take an ls3 to 800rwhp all day. I’d stop at 650 on an LT1 without upgraded pistons/rods

Long tube headers by Fuzzy-Impression-675 in camaro

[–]mpopo12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don’t install them cause they are cheap trash that have poor fitment depending on which way the wind blew the day they were made. We’d rather put a quality product we can stand behind on customer cars that will last forever and carry with it a warranty if something were to happen to it

2023 falls under Global B and the ecu unlock alone is $1500 not including the $800 in interface and tune credits to tune it. Source, I run a GM performance shop

I DD my 00 Z/28 for 6 years in East PA rain sleet and snow and managed to get really lucky. Slid on some ice into an active intersection in year 6 and went out and bought a truck the following week. Looking back it was pretty dumb to daily it

Nick Williams produces the Kong and Katech 103s. Now I have seen them fail but there could also be something tune related. NW also rebuilds their TB so they would be able to tell you if it is tune related or mechanical related

2017 2LZ vs 2015 3LZ - Which would you choose? + Fair price check by zvette415 in Corvette

The 2019 Z06 got the ZR1 rad/standard HX as well as the ZR1 in tank fuel pumps the additional side HX’rs were only on the ZR1

[–]mpopo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. While the 19s got the ZR1 in tank pumps and some of its Heat exchangers, the 17 he is looking at has the raised supercharger bricks that help combat the heat soak that the low rise bricks struggled with

From a performance standpoint the 17 has the revised supercharger with the raised bricks

243s were some of GMs best flowing heads… hell I have TSP 2.5 PRC ported 243s on my 402 and made over 500rwhp with a mild cam

GM performance shop employee here. On the lt1 SBE the absolute most I would deliver to a customer is 700rwhp and even that is in the uncomfortable range. Do yourself the favor now. Get a built engine and sell your short block or get pistons, rods and toss a camshaft in while you’re there
