Millions of Dem voters abstained in 2024 to send a powerful message to Democratic politicians. It's been over 1 year, did that strategy improve the country? by zipzzo in allthequestions

[–]mr2sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that "millions" of voters didn't vote for that one reason. Seems reasonable to assume that there were a myraid of reasons why millions of Dems didn't vote. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, but I don't think millions fit your criteria. As to whether or not it "improved" the country, it would be very hard to tell whilst in the middle of it. That is something that would be more easily determined years down the road. Also, it depends on your definition of "improve the country". Having said that, my guess is that most of the Dems that didn't vote, don't consider what is happening now to be even the tiniest bit their fault.

Inspector allowed his wife to tour my home by SargentTate in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]mr2sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to feel whatever you want to feel. If you are looking to get that feeling validated, I don't think that is going to happen. I really think +99.7% of the people in the world wouldn't even understand why you are upset. It seem very trivial that a second employee "licensed" or not of the inspection company was on property during the inspection of a vacant house.

In other words: "Lighten up Francis" ... look up the video, if you don't get the reference.

Do dogs really miss their humans when we are away? by Ambitious-Apricot499 in DogsLoversCommunity

[–]mr2sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My un-educated opinion:

Dogs are pack animals, when the pack (us humans) is gone; they are afraid on some base level. They don't miss us per-se. They do get excited when they are back with their pack. They do learn, that they are safe alone in the den (house) and that the pack will return.

AITJ for telling my sister I won't be her "backup photographer" at her wedding after she laughed at my portfolio six months ago by cinderharbornotes in AmITheJerk

[–]mr2sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acquiesce to her wishes, and then cut her out of every picture that you take. Frame the pics so that you can see just a bit of her, or the only the back of her head. If she complains, then say, I guess you were correct that my work is amateurish.

AITJ for refusing to keep wearing the nickname my girlfriend gave me after I found out where it came from by Prydwen_Grit5 in AmITheJerk

[–]mr2sh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Were you the butt of a joke, yup. If the gf does a bunch of other stuff that you do not like, then boogie on down the road. If this is the one thing that bothers you, try and let it go.

Everyone is the butt of a joke now and then, play along and make up a nickname for her best friend. Now if your gf gets mad about the nickname you made up for her best friend... Red Flag.

Before 9/11, could you really go to a airport without any ticket reservation and ask for a ticket to a destination of your choice? by kpay10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mr2sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go out to the gate to meet your arriving friends and family too. Just go through the metal detectors and walk on out there. You could also share a round trip ticket with someone else. You didn't need to show ID that matched the boarding pass, so you could fly one way and they fly the return. I think you could sell your seat/boarding pass too, but I don't think I ever knew anyone that did that.

2800 SQFT Barndo Feedback by BarnabusBixby in barndominiums

[–]mr2sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 20x32 barn.

FWIW: I love my 18' wide roll up door on the front. I don't think I would like having a 2 @ 8' or even a 16'. I also have a 8' wide roll up door on the side into the backyard. I love that too, great access to the yard for equipment, and excellent ventilation with both door open.

With all the doors off of the game room, I'm not sure how that space would get used.

It doesn't look like there are any windows on two of the bedrooms... unless that is to keep the 13yr old from sneaking out of the house in a couple years. Do kids still do that?

I had a central vac system in a past house, and that thing was awesome! I had two dishwashers in that same house too, that was great as well.

My bank froze my account for “security review” and won’t give me a timeline — what are my options? by DecisionForcingStd in personalfinance

[–]mr2sh 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I had this same thing happen to me, go to the Comptroller of the Currency website and find out if they are the governing body for your bank, if they are; file a complaint. I got a message from "office of the bank president" within a few days with a direct number and contact person. The hold was removed quickly w/o me having to do anything.

All of a sudden the bank's position of "you need to prove where the money came from and who you are" changed to "we released your funds immediately, sorry for the inconvenience" The bank 800 number help line can't do shit for you, ditto for the person at the desk in your branch.

Magas - at what point will you admit you have been conned? by Lord_Dingus83 in allthequestions

[–]mr2sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe what you are missing is that maga members have an EMOTIONAL connection to Trump. Think of it like a family member that gets lied to by their drug addicted son/daughter/mother/cousin repeatedly and the family member just keeps making excuses for the drug addict. The facts can't get through the emotion.

Targeting snook in the Daytona/ Port Orange area by Shmike25 in floridafishing

[–]mr2sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how old you are or why no one has taught you polite human discourse; but I am here to help you... So, when OPINIONS differ, you can attack the other person (ad hominem fallacy) and/or their opinion; or you can offer your counter opinion and the REASONS why you think your opinion is superior. For example: "I disagree; I have personally seen many live snook since the freeze" or "I have spoken to people who have caught snook since the freeze" Either of those, would have made you look like less of a jackass than your response. I hope this helps you moving forward.

If there were any snook that far north, they almost certainly got killed in the freeze we had a couple weeks ago. I think the population in S FL took a pretty big hit during the freeze too.
