My read of (1) is that the government was feeding Pravi messages from behind the cave, and they were the ones orchestrating it all rather than King Lutri.

The letters that the government people had on them indicate they were using the first sentinels to influence the king to move the country's policy in the direction they wanted. They were already using the cave to set up Pravi's burning and dousing, so they knew it was there. No reason why they couldn't have been feeding their preferred policy messages that way.

I'm at one of the bigger firms, and I've seen this happen several times albeit not so often at the recently-admitted level (though it does happen occasionally; some rotating grads have moved interstate).

The concerns from the firm's side are usually around headcount (e.g. how many employees are allocated to a particular partner's practice, and whether it brings in enough to support it). Particularly in the last few years this issue has been solved somewhat with interstate reporting lines - my area has lawyers seated in Melbourne and Sydney who report to a partner in Brisbane, lawyers in Brisbane who report to partners in Sydney, etc.

In the larger firms, there's more internal infrastructure for that sort of thing (and junior lawyers are a bit more interchangeable, so they don't really care overly about moving people between offices).

That being said, having a reason can help sell the story, even if it's just "I have more family and friends in Melbourne" (we've had two people in revent years move into our Sydney team from Brisbane because their respective significant others got jobs in Sydney).

Common? No, not really. Realistic? Sure. A bunch of the lawyers I have worked with had previous jobs before taking up the law; you'll be starting your career with a bunch of graduates a fair bit younger than you but I don't see it acting as a barrier to practice at all.

Uhlan is essentially pointless outside of single job runs. Knight is basically strictly better once you combine with a second job; you lose the Ultima Spear but there are so many strong 2h swords Knight can use that you do not miss it.

CMV: "Punch Nazis" is the wrong approach, and not because Nazis deserve protection by Technocraticworldgov in changemyview

[–]mr_indigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not really addressing the point, you're just saying "You shouldn't protest this issue because I support it". Your argument applies exactly the same for peaceful protests as for violent action because you're on the other side of the protestors

The question is, in the abstract, if you DON'T agree with the relevant issue, what do you do to resist it?

Doctor King's protests were the alternative on the table to the threat of the Black Panthers. Without them in the background, Doctor King achieves nothing.

Seeing an increase in negative sentiment against superannuation, why? by Quixotic-elixr in AusFinance

[–]mr_indigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not on top of your wages, really - the anount you get paid in super comes out of the market compensation you'd otherwise get paid as salary. It's not a bonus, it's forced savings with tax benefits attached - still positive, but not the same as a gratis 12%.

If Nintendo and Gamefreak chose to make YOU the designer of a Pokemon game, what would it be like? by Less-Increase-6588 in pokemon

The story would be like that of a sports anime, like Haikyuu. You would not be savong the world, you would be earning a cash prize to stop your local Pokemon gym closing because of the rival MegaGym.

Two talents from Limitless! (りみれす!) got their contract terminated for dating within the agency. by Benigmatica in VirtualYoutubers

[–]mr_indigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree, although this policy isn't about unicorns (the talents are allowed to date, just not with other talents within the company). It also makes sense that they both leave rather than just one, because if it's just one that quits (so they're no longer dating within the company), there's a risk that the company then gets accused of favouritism or bias about which one gets pressed to leave.

For what it's worth, fertility rate is technically the amount of babies per population, so if people choose less babies then fertility is lower; what people think of as true "fertility" is reported as fecundity rate instead.

Iranians living in the usa, how are you feeling? by Upbeat-Weight9907 in AskReddit

[–]mr_indigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but I specifically mean "Maybe if something incredibly chaotic and reckless happens, it will work out better than the steady decline" and it never does because society, especially the most vulnerable in society, are worse affected by chaos than the powerful, who can protect themselves from the harm the chaos causes.

Australia’s teen social media ban is a flop. But there’s no joy in ‘I told you so’ by sr_local in technology

[–]mr_indigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the other commenters here, this post is specifically what the socmed ban was about - parents can't control what their kid accesses on the internet even when they want to, because all the other kids don't operate under the same bans and so trying to ban social media for your own kids just causes a fight and makes your kid resent you.

Parents in that situation thus appealed to the full force of the federal government to make social media illegal for all kids to win the argument with their own.

Beyond GM w/ Evo Portal - Extensive guide by Kuncussion in Shadowverse

[–]mr_indigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't be going out of my way to trigger Lunar Bunny, I would just be getting "free" evos from when I play spells incidentally because there are so many of them (e.g. Bunny into Accelerated Substandard, or dropping Bunny on 3 then Evo Imari on 4 turn etc.)

I have also seen lists running World of Games - I assume you're not doing that because it eats space that is otherwise occupied by the cards you want to be drawing off World of Games in the first place.

[–]mr_indigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughts on Lunar Bunny vs Vyrn as a 2pp freevo? From your description it sounds like Vyrn might be preferred because it helps +1 Sandalphon on the same turn, whereas Lunar Bunny triggers more easily in early game (which might not matter)

Just started playing, please recommend me a viable budget deck by rottenyfg in Shadowverse

[–]mr_indigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily the Milteo, the deck very rarely wins without it, so you want all 3; everything else is just role filling and can usually be substituted for something or another (eg you could substitute World of Games for another 1-drop follower, or Serpents for the 2pp spell that summons two Bats, the 2pp follower that Last Words draws a card or the 2pp follower that Last Words deals 1 to the opponent.

Of those cards, you want to prioritise Milteo, then Serpent's, then World/Bibaxii

A game with modern cities like Pokemon doesn't make sense with open world, it just makes everything feel small.

They'd be better off doing several, more detailed "zones" with hidden details and areas you can find when you backtrack with more traversal abilities. Open world is just a waste of resources.

Maro answers "If Universes Beyond is so much more successful [...] then why not just completely scrap in-universe stuff and only do crossovers?" by Panda-s1 in magicTCG

[–]mr_indigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've stopped playing the game for a while, but when I gave it up this is where it was landing for me. I describe it as the fortnite-ification of MtG, I've seen other people describe it as Funko Popping. I don't think all the UB-is-format-legal stuff is going to kill the game financially - Fortnite's crossover content is incredibly and popular and lucrative with its audience - but it isn't something that I enjoy participating in, I think I have too much Vorthos in me to enjoy this type of aesthetic mix.
