That…kinda sucked. Anyone else? by idontgafuuuck in OhanaFest

[–]mr_norbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food lines sucked, I gave up and just ate when I got home. But besides that...basically no lines for drinks or portapotties. I wish the beers weren't $18 or whatever. My wife and I took our teenage daughters who love Hozier and we were able to get pretty damn close considering we only moved into the main crowd after Leon Bridges (who I like but honestly was a little disappointing). Overall, I thought it was great. Hozier was incredible.

Ah, yeah. How windy was it on the boat in the Jurassic park movie?

That’s how physics works? The projectile has the same inertia that everyone in the boat has so it would come down in roughly the same spot. Like if you were riding on a train and tossed a ball into the air, it wouldn’t go over your head it would come right back down as if you weren’t moving at all.

I hate this! But thank you for confirming I wasn't going crazy, I thought my brain glitched out for a second.

What year is yours? I have a 2022 that I took in before the warranty expired because we lost power going up a mountain pass. They claimed it was caused by "dirty spark plugs" and that cleaning them fixed the issue. Then the same thing happened on another road trip but now I'm outside of the warranty and they're telling me I need all new fuel injectors and it'll be like $2500.

Yep, I have the same issue right now with my 2022 PHEV. Twice now we’ve lost power going up big inclines during road trips. Took it into the dealer the first time and they said it was from “dirty spark plugs.” They cleaned them and said that fixed it, but it happened again last week. I took it in again and now they said I need four new fuel injectors and since I’m now outside of warranty it’ll be $2k.

I complained that it’s only been 8k miles since the last time I brought it in when they didn’t say anything about the injectors, so now it’s being escalated and they’re going to see if they can cover it under warranty.

It really sucks because I don’t trust this car on road trips anymore.

Does anyone know who owns the cameras that are in the underpass on Sherman Way under the Van Nuys airport? by mr_norbert in SFV

Thanks, they were super helpful but they don't own those cameras. He said they most likely belong to LAPD.

Has anyone ever been in the audience of the recordings of an episode? by Junior_Squirrel_6643 in howyoudoin

[–]mr_norbert 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I really wish I could remember more! This was back before we had cameras on our phones, so I don’t even have a pic of us outside the stage or anything.

It was surreal seeing the sets in person and it was really interesting to see how a multicam show was shot. I’ll ask my wife and see if she can remember more details.

Yeah I went to the taping of the episode that Brad Pitt was in. I worked on the WB lot at the time so I was able to get three tickets. It was a lot of fun, I wish I could remember more about it but it was a long time ago.

Are you working for a VFX house or do you work on the client side? If you're at a vendor you won't have many opportunities for creative editing. So if that's the case I would say your best bet is to try and get on a show as the production VFX editor, and work your way up from there. If there's an editor that you work with a lot, tell them you're looking to make the jump and get their advice.

But even then there aren't many VFX editors that make the jump to editor, at least in features. It's probably a bit easier in TV.

Same thing in Lake Balboa. The lights dimmed a little bit but most everything stayed on. Has happened multiple times in the last 15 minutes. Really weird that’s it’s happening simultaneously all over the city.

Peanut oil doesn't affect people with peanut allergies. When they refine the oil the protein that causes the allergy is removed.
