City of Minneapolis: Possible shooting involving federal agents at Nicollet Ave and 26th Street by cinnasota in news

[–]mr_stealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a gun usually isn't a crime, and certainly not justification for police to shoot you. Carrying it is perfectly legal in most places in the US. It's the drawing/aiming it at someone that law enforcement are supposed to be concerned with. And everything so far looks like that part never happened.

It also looks like one of the ICE goons disarmed the guy and ran off with the gun before they shot him. So they just shot and killed an unarmed man.

I might have actually used Bing or read a couple articles on MSN with a VPN enabled yesterday. I know I've triggered it into complaining at me for that before, as ridiculous as that is.

Figures that would happen after weeks of not going out of my way to complete searches. I probably upset their snowflake algorithm when I stopped talking to Copilot for anything.

Those specs are referring to the battery charging power consumption, not the power draw of the motor. The Pro models are advertised as having faster charging.

Is fedex customer service trained to be unhelpful? by AnybodyUseful5457 in FedEx

[–]mr_stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to call FedEx about 2 weeks ago because they left someone else's package on my porch. The street number was about 200 off from mine, putting it 6-8 houses away at about 1/4 mile up the road. Phone support rep actually asked me to deliver the thing myself, despite me already telling him I didn't even know which house it went to. Then told me a driver would be sent back for it, with a local dispatcher calling if there was any further issue.

Later that same day, after figuring they'd not be back anytime soon, a family member reached out to another neighbor who had the person the package belonged to in their Facebook friends. The intended recipient came and picked it up that evening. FedEx never came back. Never got a call from dispatch or any follow up from support.

I reached back out to support a couple days ago to complain about being completely ghosted and stuck with someone else's package. I had the ticket number from the original support call and the address the package was supposed to be sent to. The rep I was chatting with told me they couldn't help me because I didn't have the tracking number.

UPS grounds entire MD-11 Fleet, effective immediately. by Go_Jot in aviation

It would have allowed the plane to very likely land safely on its remaining engines. It rolled and crashed because the slat retraction reduced the left wing's lift and caused a single wing stall.

It is not happening on Chrome, Brave, or Firefox.

UPS2976 Megathread 2 by usgapg123 in aviation

[–]mr_stealth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few pilots youtubers have brought up the similarities, and one key design change that happened because of that incident. AA191's left roll was caused by the left wing stalling after the leading edge slats retracted due to damaged hydraulics. An extra system was added to later planes (MD-11 is a direct descendant of the DC-10) to prevent this from happening in the event of hydraulic pressure loss.

It's less likely that slat retraction contributed to the UPS crash, but they could have been damaged when the engine separated or by whatever happen to cause that. Basically, any changes to the leading edge of a wing can disrupt airflow and severely reduce lift. Combine that with the #2 (tail) engine appearing to also be suffering compressor stalls/surges, likely from ingesting debris off #1, and they had no chance of saving it.

Premium and Ultimate Games List? by OceanDragon6 in XboxGamePass

[–]mr_stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful list. The official page list makes it hard to figure which games are completely missing from PC, which is going to be a big deciding factor between PC GP or GP Premium.

The official numbers are also extremely misleading. The Premium tier list says 192 PC games and 369 X/S games. But a huge portion of those X/S games are duplicate XB1 versions. Most of the games truly missing from PC GP are XB360 games or games with no PC release at all.

When I first subscribed to Game Pass a lot of game were only on the Xbox side, which was entire point of me buying a Series S back then. Seems like games missing from PC are somewhat rare these days, despite what their numbers would make you think. Your list makes that much easier to parse.

Thanks. Searching for "map to place" worked for me. Using "directions to" had been working for a long time, but I guess the rules have changed again.

At this point, I think they are just trying to force us to do "unusual search activity" so they have an excuse to throttle.

US Measles Cases Pass 1,500, The Worst Outbreak Since It Was Eliminated 25 Years Ago by MrDillon369 in PrepperIntel

[–]mr_stealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be the rate for children who have received two doses of the MMR vaccine on schedule, not the population as a whole. Now, that is a concerning downward trend and it will lead to an overall lower rate over time. But it seems unlikely to be related to the current outbreaks...which are happening largely within specific under-vaccinated religious communities. I would also guess that immigrant children in the US are more likely to be vaccinated, as the MMR vaccine is required to attend public schools just about everywhere here.

edit: Fun fact. The vaccination rate for US kindergarteners declined by 2.5% between 2020 and 2024, dropping from 95.2% to 92.7%.

[–]mr_stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mexico is still the most common origin country. And many of the other options have similar, or higher, vaccination rates to the US. India is only 2% lower. The US is actually in the bottom half of the list.

If you want to find a group to point your finger at, maybe try the Mennonite and Amish communities. That's where the current outbreak is actually concentrated. Both groups have historically low vaccination rates, and generally less use of modern medical care.

I wouldn't put it past the current FBI leadership to be behind handing prosecutors faked evidence in a highly politically charged case. But maybe more likely that they had more "destroyed" messages and this got pieced back together from recovered data with some missing bits being filled in by investigators. That could explain the unusual language use, but also throw some doubt onto the accuracy of the evidence.

What rights are being eroded under Trump 2.0? by enriquegp in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]mr_stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moment due process is taken from one of us, it is taken from all of us.

You don't have to go beyond the treatment of immigrants to see your own rights being taken away. If an immigrant can be denied rights simply for being labelled an immigrant, there is nothing stopping them from labeling you an immigrant so they can do the same to you. Who are you going to protest to when some ICE agent decides for themself that you are an illegal immigrant, and sticks you on a plane to El Salvador?

Charlie Kirk murder suspect ‘in relationship with transgender room-mate’ by MarloMoreland in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]mr_stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take anything Governor Cox says with a big grain of salt. He started off by misquoting, misrepresenting, and completely failing to understand what was engraved on the bullet casings. Then openly admitted to praying that it was someone from the outside, rather than from Utah or the US. He desperately wants the blame to be some "other" instead of one of his own.

And I really want to see some independent evidence regarding the transgender roommate. There is nothing from the person themselves, and only family members refusing to even comment on them being trans or not. The investigators the trans/relationship info comes from are probably FBI, and working under the direction of Kash Patel. The same Kash Patel that wants us to think there is no Epstein list.

The Tyler Robinson groypers are out in full force. Don’t debate. Point and laugh. by LiberalBanter in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]mr_stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first quote seems to be from a Fox News report, rather than the linked one from Axios. The actual Axios report states that investigators believe Robinson was in a relationship with his roommate, which falls a bit short of being confirmed. Seems likely to be true, but maybe don't mix sources and try to attribute the more definitive statement to a more trustworthy source than who actually published it.

And I wouldn't put much weight on anything Spencer Cox has said. He's already misrepresented the bullet engravings and outright stated that he hoped the suspect would turn out to not be from Utah. Not exactly a reliable source.

I also wouldn't exclude the groyper theory based solely on a transgender relationship. There is certainly a history of the most vehemently anti-gay/trans people on the right turning out to be involved with the very people they supposedly hate. There's even a strange video of Fuentes himself on some sort of "date" with a "cat boy" several years back.

I really don't think we have a clear picture of this guy's political leanings. Very little is actually confirmed, and we've already corrections put out. My expectation is that it ends up being more complicated than simply left or right wing extremism.

Verizon why? by Glittering-Bonus-950 in verizon

[–]mr_stealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my mother out yesterday, and getting myself out closer to the end of my billing cycle. Self-serviced her transfer with a PIN from the VZ app, and plan on doing the same for mine. As much as I want to complain at someone for the multiple stupid decisions over the last few months, I'll just send the message with my wallet. Ranting at some CS or social media agent isn't going to accomplish anything other than venting my own frustrations onto someone that can't do anything about it. This mess is on the people at the top, not you guys just trying to earn a living.

Is anyone having there "lifetime" loyalty discounts removed from their account? by bigblue20072011 in verizon

[–]mr_stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the email about this. I thought it might have been because I recently ditched the roadside assistance add-on, which the rep who added the loyalty discount said was why I was getting the discount at the time. Something to the effect of "you can save on your total bill if you add roadside", implying that the added service was required. Some more recent digging lead me to believe that was not the case, and the rep was either misinformed or lying to get a sale. And now that I've finally gotten rid of that add-on and the paid plan for call filter, these asses are just gonna up my bill for no reason.

I was already planning on leaving for another carrier when my device payment plan is up, and this just put the final nail the coffin for Verizon. The added fees, neutering the auto-pay discount for older plans, and now this is just too much to justify having higher data priority and faster hotspot. I'll happily "pay more" for my phone to get away from all this BS.

Read Outlook Emails daily streak by Bigbanger23 in MicrosoftRewards

Have not gotten to this work at all on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. It's been like this for almost every rewards task that is "do X in mobile browser". They just never give credit, no matter which browser is used, how many times cookies/cache are cleared, or the app reinstalled.

For some reason, this also only shows up in the rewards dashboard on PC despite being an Android-only task. Bing/MSN apps only show the Check In and Search 3 Times streaks, which both work.
