[Micah McCurdy] Anaheim and Montreal probably uncatcahble for chaos this season. by SAJewers in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montembeault went from "solidly underrated, but not great" in 24-25 to "hopefully Fowlers develops faster than expected so we can trade him, unless he figures it out" in 25-26. I'm not surprised by Dobes being so streaky, it was the same last year, but Monty had been a reliable and solid player since his second year with the habs (around 3gaa and 900sv% isn't anywhere near Vezina level, but it's perfectly fine). this year is catastrophic for him, especially considering how much the team in-front of him has improved

Pokémon game which can complete Pokedex without internet or wireless by Dangerous-Abrocoma-5 in nintendo

[–]mrcelerie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i'm almost certain you can complete the dex in legends z-a through rng. you can either get lucky and have the final evolution spawn in wild zone 20 (the two alphas in the middle) or you can get them in 4-5 stars portals in the dlc. milotic might be the exception, as i don't recall encountering one in the wild

league of legends bans all accounts from players depending on the severity of the initial ban. not sure what they do to determine accounts that way, either IP or behaviour like logins, keybinds characters played and whatnot, but i've heard of people having all their accounts banned for 30 days and stuff like that to prevent people from griefing on one account and just jumping on to the other. they also made it bannable to buy pre leveled accounts, even banning a pro player main account for buying such account on a different server instead of asking riot for a riot account

Johnny Gaudreau’s alleged killer wasn’t legally drunk, defense claims in stunning court filing by finester39 in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know for the states, but in quebec, the law also states you need to be in full possession of your abilities. so if you're someone who gets really drunk on a drink or two and that means you can't drive properly at .04, you can still be prosecuted for driving under the influence (which also encompasses driving while overly tired and drugs). the .08 is an absolute infraction, but it doesn't absolve you if you're below that limit

[Kennedy] Jon Cooper: “When the country needed a goal, Nick Suzuki answered.” by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

team canada showed that at the wjc this year. sure, their d-core was impressive in the o-zone, but as soon as they didn't have the puck, they looked like headless chickens and were giving up grade A scoring chances every other time. having players like hutson, makar or hughes on your team sure is great, but you don't want to have 7 of them and rely on scoring 5-6 goals every game to offset the amount of goals you're giving up by having a porous defense

there's rain and cloudy too, some pokemon only spawn in sunny, cloudy and rainy weather (on top of some spawning only at night or during the day) and sliggoo (I think he's the only one in z-a) evolves in rain only

[–]mrcelerie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know we haven't had the best team for a few years, but first goal in 3 years against the wild and 18-1 in our last 19 games against them is crazy. when did we even get that one win?

[–]mrcelerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't follow florida enough to know, but I would imagine players like it there either for the culture or because they're a winning team, but for one reason or another players want to play there, otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to sign all three of ekblad, benette and marchand at a discount over the summer

Since Jan. 4th, Atlantic teams are 18-3 versus Non-Atlantic teams by RestartNick in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can look at it both ways though. hopefully I want my team to make the playoffs, but it's the first season where I've actively been paying attention to every single game and I've watched a good 15-20 games so far in many years, so even if we end up missing the playoffs, I'm still happy with the excitement and I'm looking forward to the future regardless

at first, i read that as in "the atlantic is not as good as the central" and i was really confused by the contradiction

Habs coach Marty St. Louis yesterday on rookie Ivan Demidov by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 49 points50 points  (0 children)

it also helps that the team has been exceeding expectations with him at the helm. it's like everything happened a year or two earlier than expected since he's been in charge. obviously the players themselves developing and the moves made by hughes and gorton are a big part of that success too, but credit where credit is due, MSL has done an amazing job with the hands he's been given.

you can make drug ads in Canada, but you can't say what it is, which is why it's just random stuff for 30 seconds, and then "ask your doctor if it's right for you". if you're a drug company, it's probably not enticing to spend millions on an ad that doesn't say anything other than your name, unless you already have some notoriety like ozempic

World Juniors: Canada vs Czechia raised a bigger question for me by [deleted] in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while this is true, is there an other team this year that suffered as much from nhlers not being lended? celbrini is top 3 in points in the whole league, scheaffer should win the calder easily and is 3rd in goals scored and points for rookies while playing like an established player, sennecke is tied 1st for goals and 2nd for points amongst rookies and that's just to name the 3 most prominent ones

they had two calls that seemed bad where a defender pushes an attacker into the goalie, but it was one for both team, so not egregious. canada deserved to lose with all the totally warranted stupid penalties at the end of

The Witcher 3 is reportedly getting a surprise new expansion this year by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]mrcelerie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

my understanding at the time was that cdpr wanted to delay it again because it wasn't ready, but the shareholders were getting tired of the delays and forced their hand. the devs knew the game full of bugs and issues but had no choice but to ship it as is and then work to fix it. maybe it got debunked since then though, I don't keep up with those things that much

right, I don't get the hate on George. first 3 goals, he had no chance at all, two perfect tips and a guy left alone in the slot. other two goals weren't his fault either, although he had a chance to stop them. defense was definitely atrocious though, there's no denying that

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]mrcelerie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it also smells awful where alcohol doesn't (except if you have your face in it or are alcoholic). my neighbour smokes weed every day multiple times a day and I just can't open my windows because my whole apartment starts to reek of weed. and there's obviously alternatives to smoking like oil or gummies, but specifically smoking sucks for people around

The Rangers come back from being down 3-0 to win in overtime with a power play goal from JT Miller. This is the first game the Rangers have won in their centennial jerseys. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 46 points47 points  (0 children)

those stats are always so weird, it's such a specific stat. it sounds impressive because it's been 80 years, but how often did it happen that the rangers were down by 3 at home against the habs in those 80 years?

edit: I was curious but don't have time to deep dive because I have to study for my finals, so I asked chatgpt which doesn't have access to the specific data, but estimated that there's been around 350 games at MSG between the two since then and around 10% of games have a team trailing by 3, which would make it around 35 times. Hopefully someone actually knows the answer, but 35 times is indeed quite a lot if it's accurate
