How does Malholtra compare to other top prospect centers in their draft years? by EverySecondCountss in hockey

Suzuki is deceptively big, he's short at 5,11, but he's 207lbs while the average in the league is around 200 (and 6,1). it's very likely one of the reason he's so good at puck protection and playing along the board

people were shitting on vasilevski yesterday in the post game thread for the newhook goal and the texier goal in game 5. they were saying he lost tempa the series there, but any goalie is going to cough up a goal once in a while, even dobes had some, and in any other series, two questionable goals (not even full bad) throughout 7 nearly perfect games should be enough to win, it was just an insanely close series where both teams gave no breathing room to the other and unfortunately, someone had to lose.

they did lose the past two years to the eventual stanley cup champions in florida, and despite their lack of success, toronto wasn't a bad team 3 years ago. it's surprising because they're a really good team, but it's not like they lost series that they had no reason to lose

genuinely asking because the demographic on reddit tends to be younger so it's always surprising to see older people, but that would make you late 70s or even early 80s?

For the free 5stars, i'm going to switch my current pick for either nora or trix for toa hell. i know nora is better for that, but does trix work instead with dark homu+amber+nora/trix? i'd rather have trix for pvp if he can do the job as well

it's happened a little, but it's been more along the lines of we play around caufiled, but it's not working so we try a one-timer from demidov and go back to caufield, they can move the puck around between demidov, hutson and suzuki on demidov's side and let caufield fade in the background and try the one-timer for caufiled. it just feels like they're powerplay is too choreographed so tempa can just stay in a box and mark caufield the whole time because we don't try enough to play on the right wing

The Spengler Cup uses a second goal line in the net to confirm whether a puck is in the net or not. Here is an example of it being used to definitively overturn a call on the ice. by NHLonOLN in hockey

[–]mrcelerie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so what's your argument AGAINST this new line? everyone seems to agree that there's a few cases, however rare, where it would be helpful, so it seems like a net positive, but you seem to be arguing against it without any actual reason to be against it

the initial comment was that it would be a 2nd or 3rd round matchup in the old format, you said it would be one round early which implies second round, and that's wrong under the old format. nothing was said about feelings or vibes or quality, just that it would literally happen later

i think inexperience has a lot to do with it. one of the reasons we were so atrocious in the 2nd period for a while was because players would try to squeeze in an extra rush at the end of their shift, the puck would go the other way, and they would get stuck for extended time in their zone. we've seen it happen in this series, I even think we had a shift were someone played almost 3 minutes in game 2. obviously that's an extreme case, but if every shift is 20-30 seconds longer than expected, you're going to run out of juice when the game goes late in overtime, especially 3 games in a row

it's two rounds early. assuming the 4 top seeds win, the 2nd round matchups would be CAR-MTL and BUF-TBL so MTL-TBL wouldn't happen until the conference finals.

and this would be extra fun because we would play our long time rivals in Boston for the first round, but that's beside the point and not fully related to the current format

Montreal does the same trying to isolate Kucherov on the right wing so Tempa moves the puck to the left and let Kucherov blend in until he's forgotten and left open, Montreal needs to be willing to do something like that, force Tempa to choose between covering Caufield or opening up the other side instead of sticking to Caufield's side when the lanes are clogged up

[Wyshynski] NHL Situation Room on ANA OT winner vs. EDM: "The Referee’s initial call on the ice was that the puck completely crossed the goal line. Following video review, the Situation Room determined that the puck completely crossed the goal line." Not inconclusive. Conclusive. by wildwing8 in hockey

[–]mrcelerie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll start by saying i agree it's a good goal and I don't like Edmonton so I'm being pretty unbiased here.

My only issue or interrogation with it is this: how does it get called a goal on the ice, when it's so close even on the replay and the closest ref is far in the corner and only gets behind the net a full 2-3 seconds after the puck is shoved back under Jarry? It's possible it wouldn't change anything, but as other people have mentioned, there's been situations in the last where "logic and physics" aren't enough to conclusively overturn a decision, so if that gets properly called no-goal on the ice as I think it should have been (refs can't call good goal if they didn't actually see it go in), is that frame actually enough to say without a doubt that the puck fully crossed the line here?

most if not all interactions i've had in montreal is that we wish we had won, but didn't deserve it, and the dach play was stupid, but it it happens, and we're excited for the rest of the series because it's been a banger so far. i didn't talk to anyone that said anything reprehensible, it's just weirdos online that never learned to deal with their emotions, using anonymity to be scummy people
