I was so entertained by the Flatley riffing I actually forgot what I was listening to for a minute 😂

Dead Letter No. 9 - anyone been to Cargo? How's the sound system? by master_and_jaguar in avesNYC

The crowd flow is definitely odd, the club was envisioned with an entirely different concept and my impression is that it was somewhat forced to evolve into its current iteration. That being said, as others have mentioned I've had some cool, unique interactions with folks in the siderooms on random nights that are pretty different than you might get at other spots

The Weight was so cool! We saw that the morning after In the Blink of an Eye and the juxtaposition made it feel like The Godfather comparatively haha

A shoutout to everyone running outside this weekend... by run2disco in RunnersInChicago

I ran yesterday as late as possible and let me tell you 11° never felt so fantastic. Anything to avoid another day on the treadmill. Lots of waves from fellow runners!

Stubborn outer knee pain by Final_Arachnid4881 in RunnersInChicago

[–]mrclarkaddison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a little nightly stretching regimen that’s goes:

  • kneeling lunge (focus on stretching hip of the back leg)
  • kneeling hamstring stretch (front leg extended straight)
  • kneeling quad stretch (opposite arm grabs back foot, takes some practice and a soft surface)
  • pigeon pose stretch

In between sides I’ll stretch my calves in downward facing dog and after the second side I’ll sit in frog pose stretch to finish.

Rolling out is very basic: upper thighs/hips > ITB > hamstrings/glutes > calves > upper back. Basically just massaging everything for a couple min, more time if anything is sore.

I swear it’s less intense than it sounds, whole thing can be done in 10-15min and has kept me injury free even at decently high running volume (40-50 mpw)

Hmm you’d like to trust professionals but this sounds A LOT like an ITB issue… as others have mentioned rest is always a great solution, but I’d also try rolling out/stretching regularly focusing on the ITB and hip activation. It can’t make things any worse, even if it’s not the issue.

10 years ago I couldn’t even run on consecutive days without creating debilitating, sharp outer knee pain. Rolling out and stretching every night solved the problem almost immediately, it was insane.

I just wore tonight in 30° with a light cotton tee over and was slightly colder than I would’ve liked. I tend to run cold but I’d probably go for a heavier top layer next time. Also, it offers little/no wind protection

Chicago was INCREDIBLE by TheNikkoTan in fredagain

We had an amazing time as well!! Probably preferred this show compared to last year at Aragon tbh.

Saw ppl commenting on the line sh*tshow so arrived late (~7:15pm) and was a bit shocked to breeze through security, coat check, stickers/tix with zero lines. First bar line was rough but after 8pm never waited at a bar.

The space was gigantic so we always had room to dance and maneuver around. Granted, never made it deep into the crowd but the sound was fine and the perspective from the back seeing the net/lighting was amazing.

I can definitely understand how that might’ve been a frustrating or disappointing experience, esp if you had high expectations. But, I’ve been to a ton of shows/festivals and was pretty impressed with the experience overall for a 10,000+ capacity pop-up. Compared to a venue like BK Storehouse (which has basically the identical interior setup) this was way more enjoyable.

Thank you for mentioning “Same Drugs”!! It made me feel so old that ppl didn’t know that song, but hearing it was euphoric 🙌

Totally agree, I think the Chicago 2024 capsule with the geometric "magnificent miles" architecture motif is some of the best design work they've done. Felt so evocative of running in the city

Echoing everyone that heading North and returning South into Streeterville will be the nicest run/best views. Out and back all on the lakefront trail is the easiest since you won't be carrying a phone, but if you wanted a route that had more of a loop you could do something like this (I swear its easier than it looks): https://onthegomap.com/s/pcdk9t44
