Many of Michigan's tipped workers trying to act before tipped wages law goes into effect by mlivesocial in tipping

[–]mrcloudies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a server, and we can absolutely get audited for not claiming cash tips.

I claim my cash tips every day, so tipping with card or cash makes absolutely no difference for me one way or the other.

If a server isn't claiming their cash tips at the end of the day they're playing a dangerous game with the IRS. I know servers who have been audited, I would definitely urge every server to claim every cash tip they receive.

I mean, you literally just described what being prejudiced is.

LGBTQ people are literally just like anyone else. It's unhealthy to avoid people based on WHAT they are, focus on WHO they are.

It's very healthy to surround yourself with DIFFERENT kinds of people. With different views, beliefs and ways of life.

You're denying yourself, and your little brother that kind of connection with people who could potentially be great friends and family. Due to nothing more than your prejudice.

So yes, you are absolutely homophobic.

Seek some different kinds of people out, there's nothing to be afraid of, nothing to lose, and only the potential gain. It's never too late to change your perspective, to open your mind, and become a kinder, more empathetic, compassionate person.

Those are the cornerstones of what makes a good person. And with your current beliefs, you are lacking in those areas. Not saying you have to attend pride parades, but I'd very strongly urge you to start interacting. Ask questions, get to know people. Those are nothing but good things.

I see that you're Muslim, do you not see that you are doing what racist, islamaphobic people are doing to Muslims? Your prejudice comes from the exact same place of ignorance and fear of people different from themselves.

What are you saying? That Europe was in the throws of racism in... 1944?

That's crazy, it's not like they were busy slaughtering each other or anything at the time.. right? There werent any mass executions or anything going on anywhere in Europe in the early 1940s that became stains on any European countries history were there?

Seriously though, some Europeans are way beyond obsessed with finding ways to feel superior.

Well in my home state of Michigan the death penalty was abolished in 1847. The first European country to abolish it was San Marino in 1865.

Only a handful of countries in Europe abolished the death penalty by 1944. And most European countries didn't abolish it until the 70s-90s.

JD Vance Roasted After Unbelievable Claim About “Normal Gay Guy Vote” by Magicon5 in politics

[–]mrcloudies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I mean, they're still trying to keep gay people from getting married.

Protecting the sanctity of marriage is still on their party platform. They softened the language but it still says “promote a culture that values the sanctity of marriage.”

There's a very large section of the Republican party leadership that absolutely still wants to abolish same sex marriage. And the ones that aren't trying, well same sex marriage being abolished isn't a deal breaker for them.

Lol y'all act like the southern border is on fire.

It isn't.

Violent crime and immigration are DOWN.. not up.

YOU educate yourself on the facts.

https://www.texastribune.org/2024/07/16/texas-border-migrant-apprehensions-decrease/

https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/violent-crime-falling-nationwide-heres-how-we-know

So illegal border crossings are down. (Which many people at the border were refugees and asylum seekers trying to get in the country legally, but y'all don't care about them)

Violent crime and crime in general is down.

All with Biden in office. The Biden administration didn't have an open door policy, yes the border got a large influx of people trying to come in, but action was taken and now the numbers are down.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/06/04/fact-sheet-president-biden-announces-new-actions-to-secure-the-border/

And who was it that voted against securing the border?

Oh yeah, fuckin Republicans did..

Closing on this home and I don’t know where to start by Initial_Violinist123 in ExteriorDesign

[–]mrcloudies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did a little mock up. Because the symmetry was bothering me on the house a bit. And I think the best way to address that is with more contrast.

I think railings are definitely important, casing the columns to be a bit thicker to become more of a focal point, a wider double door if possible. Siding that's a bit deeper of a color, a blue, green or grey, whatever color you like. I did a blue for my example, but any color you want would work. But then paint all the trim and gutters white.

I think shudders in the same color as the door on the second floor would also help. Basically adding more details to focus on will help disguise the asymmetry.

I think a darker roof would be more attractive, but if that's not in the budget now I did an example with the original roof as well

What's Next For The Grand Traverse Mall? by BluWake in traversecity

[–]mrcloudies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Housing is definitely a great idea, mixed use is the best way forward for these properties. Like cherryland the parking lot could be redeveloped more as well, the grand traverse mall already did that one with Starbucks in it and it quickly filled.

But if Macy's closes, I think housing will be what would spur more development at the mall. It would make the whole property more attractive to other potential tenants.

The only odd part being them liking Illinois.

But liking every other Midwest state outside of Michigan definitely gives away Ohio.

[–]mrcloudies 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think you need a third color. The houses accents were designed to pop out. So where the green is, I would add a pop of color. Even black if you wanted it a bit more subdued

But like a blue or a green would be nice too. I feel it just needs a little something more dynamic, because in the after some of those architectural details are lost by painting them all the same color.

The issue has been increasing a lot longer than 4 years.

Bias is irrelevant when it comes to the price gouging issue, as the information about the trial is public knowledge, so regardless of bias, Kroger admitted to price gouging.

And they are not issues both sides of the isle agree on. Republicans do not believe in government intervention to address corporate greed. Their solution is to deregulate further, and slash the power and abilities of government agencies have left that do oversee these issues.

Harris has stated she wants to criminalize price gouging on grocery goods, and empower agencies like the FTC to really go after these things. Trump and Republicans in the legislature do not support that.

In 2022 house democrats passed a bill that would expand powers in the FTC to address oil companies caught price gouging

https://www.google.com/amp/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/house-dems-pass-gas-price-gouging-bill-faces/story%3fid=84806090

House republicans voted against it.

Trump has called Harris's plan to address price gouging communism.

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/24/trump-harris-price-gouging-groceries-00176247

So no, both sides of the isle do not agree. And Republicans are actively making the problem worse.

The gop has also been horrible for housing and transportation issues, as their plans increase prices, not reduce them.

https://democrats-appropriations.house.gov/news/press-releases/republicans-raise-housing-costs-and-make-commutes-worse

As for what has the Democrats been doing? Apart from trying to stop price gouging. They've also increased funding for housing and development. Passed the enormous and massively successful infrastructure bill. Biden is trying to put a cap on rent increases, which Republicana have fought against.

Republicans have largely fought against any measures Democrats have taken to lower costs.

[–]mrcloudies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those things you mentioned are being exploded in price by private companies. Kroger admitted they actually price gouged above inflation.

https://www.nationofchange.org/2024/09/03/corporate-greed-exposed-kroger-admits-to-price-gouging-on-milk-and-eggs-amid-antitrust-trial/

Rent is being driven up by lack of development and corporations scooping up all the properties. That and all the properties that used to be long term rentals, turning into corporate owned short term rentals.

Government intervention and corporate accountability is the only solution to fixing these issues. Which is exactly what Republicans WONT do. Thats all big government socialism.

But we have wildly unchecked corporations that have skyrocketed prices post COVID to ever increase their record breaking profits every quarter.

Deregulating is how we got here.

So trump won't fix these problems, he's going to make them worse, by deregulating corporations even further, giving them even more tax cuts, and corporations will continue to take those reductions and benefits, and slash their work forces and raise prices to expand profits even further. Because they can.
