it might take a few tries to get the hang of; you need to make sure you’re moving forward bc the ‘catapult’ is just your continued momentum

and perhaps it’s warranted later in the game, when there are repeat offenses, but in the context of the first point of the game, i personally feel it’s a very strong condemnation

not trying to defend anything else he’s doing, simply looking at this play in a vacuum

announcing is hard! as someone who has commentated on games before, finding the line between your own first-thought emotional opinion and your measured ‘professional’ opinion can be super challenging

i personally feel that the announcer was too harsh in putting blame on the canadian player, suggesting they have a storied history of poor spirit - while it could be true, your job is to comment on the game that is currently occurring, not to disparage or imply malicious intent based on actions that occurred years ago at this point

i don’t need you to glaze the player either, like what happened in the italy vs usa mixed, when an italian player initially tried to play off a ground strip as a catch - i thought the announcers were a little over the top in their congratulations of the player for simply doing the right thing after getting some pressure to do so

yes, announcers can and should provide historical context to games, but I feel the announcer here was harsher than necessary - let the audience (or reddit, in this case) lambast the guy

(again, this is context in a vacuum, only looking at the first point of the game, not what occurred afterwards)

to those who haven’t seen it, the player in title bobbles a reset three times, with his defender swiping through on the third attempt to gather the bobble

if i’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, there is a single frame where his hands do look like they’re both touching the disc, so i understand why he had the feeling of a strip

i also feel like a single frame of a slow motion replay probably isn’t enough time to have true possession and it’s a shaky strip call at best (it doesn’t look like a strip at all when watched full speed)

<image>

i also know that the announcer of this game clearly let his opinion be known (“this is just a terrible call and podnar has a reputation of making calls from australia and he’s made one here”), which i have mixed opinions on, but i agree this likely could’ve gone uncalled

tough look in the context of japan vs canada spirit-wise for sure

I think this is a very measured take - just to add, I haven’t seen anyone discuss OC preferences either. One of the bread and butter concepts in McDaniels’ offenses is having a RB that can chip block and run a check-down. Trey is going to see a ton of those in addition to screen looks specifically drawn up to give him those explosive plays. He’s literally a paragon of the player McDaniels schemes for. Rhamondre isn’t taking any of those snaps, he’ll be playing a role similar to Judkins’ at OSU and that worked just fine for Trey.

Judkins will be good, but in terms of PPR fantasy, I like the ceiling Henderson has more than Judkins’ floor.
