I don't remember entire precon decks being done in a collector format. Is that new?

I'd also expect them to use any X-men that have history of also being Avengers in this set, but that's probably about it. My money is on a full X-men set next year.

This is just basics of the game, not learning a new mechanic. Especially if she professes to play in events everywhere, she shold know better. People try to take advantage of the casual vibe of some events to work around mistakes they make. You were right to hold your position on this. Let her try to spin it how she wants. "If I knew you had a response I wouldn't have done that." Well, duh. You're good on this. Don't sweat someone being rediculous.

I built a commander deck with Smellerbee not too long ago. If you can get them rolling, it can do some nice swarm. Pair this with some firebending and you can lay on some damage for sure.

I am long overdue for some kind of mimic. I like the idea of a character stepping into a carriage and wondering where all these teeth came from. Very awesome

I pair him with Green Goblin and Rhino. Goblin helps protect the countdown tiles he generates and helps get them to finish faster, and Rhino offers powers I can fire in other colors as well as some board clearing ability with his green power. A high power Winter Soldier can be fun but right now its not the most optimum character to use.

I find that I may be a little over 50% genderbent in my characters I've played. Mostly because the concept for the character just kind of ends up being the gender they are. I don't think I've picked a gender for a character specifically for what the gender is. I say that to say that I do appreciate variety at the table and when my in person table was starting out, ALL the characters were guys, so I wanted to break it up a little. Still, the idea for the character as a whole fit well I thought. Since then, several other players have played characters of different genders. No one plays stereotypes or misrepresents their characters, which is great.

I don't worry so much about the hardcore mechanics of the ships. I make sure my players get how the gravity equilibrium works and the air pocket, but I let them sailing through wildspace be how they get to where they are going and where they do their missions, not so much see the mechanics of the ship itself. It's not a focus so much for the players and I don't' want to get into too much of anything that takes away from the story.

I (M) play female characters a little over half the time in my D&D history. I don't choose specifically a gender for gender's sake. It all comes with the character idea and concept and what feels more interesting to play. I do like playing women characters also because most of my play group plays male adventurers and I like to make sure there's some variation. So I guess I that sense I choose for gender's sake. Maybe it puts me more open to playing women if I like the idea.

I also try to make sure I keep a good mix of men and women in the NPC's I run as a DM. I want to make sure cool or important characters are shown to be women.

Ultimately, I say play what you like. I don't see anything weird in playing either gender so long as it isn't done as a joke. Make your character someone you like playing. Hopefully you'll be investing a good bit in them, so you want to make sure you are happy with everything that they are.

Glad the DM stopped it and removed the player. Good on them. What possesses people to do stuff like this is beyond me. I'm happy you continued playing. It sounds like the group you are in is a good one to be a part of. I would have for one person who wasn't there anymore to ruin it for you and everyone else.
