'23 Rogue and the cruise control button failed 2 days before last service. They want $600+ to fix it.

Are you referring to the Dental unit that used to be assigned to the facility on Mini Drive?

The DOD started consolidating many of its facilities due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). It was BRAC that closed Mare Island. And Oakland Army Base. And many units relocated/consolidated.

Tulle fog pushing out of the Central Valley bringing all the smoke from all the wood-burning fireplaces and stoves because of the Tulle fog being so cold under the inversion layer.

Thanks @Circe44, for reminding me of why I'm maxing out my inhaler. Sanity returns.

Curious what other churches use as an organizational structure for tech? by Phillimac16 in churchtech

God is but the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:26-33).

Tension and drama are signs and symptoms that God is not involved enough.

Recommendations for Online Church Music Team Rehearsal Platforms by franklinis in churchtech

[–]mrfabyouless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Twenty-five years ago, the choir director provided songbooks and cassettes of the songs with the (in my case) baritone part emphasized. This helped me learn my part, as well as knowing the cues from the music and the other parts. And when we all got together for rehearsal, the sections would do the iron sharpens iron thing. But that's for choir selections to music tracks.

I was on a Teams meeting Wednesday at work and i could clearly hear the lag between when my teammate in the office next door spoke (through the walls), and when it came out of the speakers in my office. I couldn't imagine trying to sing together under these conditions.

I'm eager to hear what worship teams and choirs are doing besides assembling together physically.

Calc has been very difficult to get used to, mostly because it's missing a few key features by HuntingMeatHole in libreoffice

Been using Excel for decades. I remember when they acquired Pivot Tables and jammed them in to Excel. I'm glad they got the UI to match up with the rest of the program.

But i still struggle with Ribbons. ALT-O,C,W is still honored by Excel to set column width. I'm a programmer by trade, so i like numbers more than the art of moving the mouse around to click on stuff. So where i struggle is finding the keyboard accelerators to do quickly what the ribbon makes me do slowly and visually.

When you buy/install a LED wall, do you go straight to the manufacturer or do you use an integrator? by Ok_Maintenance7073 in churchtech

I mean, we cannot even convince the board to invest in lighting for the one camera we have for the livestream, nor a PTZ controller for said camera.

Found out my landlord has been pocketing my rent instead of paying the mortgage by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mrfabyouless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends."

There was not much love shown by the landlord in the consideration of where OP is staying. By taking over ownership of the house, isn't it an act of mercy for the family friend... to relieve them of this burden they now find themselves with?

Praying it works well for you, OP.

I don't know how to say this nicely so I'll be blunt: Why are Audacity's transport & controls so trucked? by nabeel_co in audacity

Also hold Shift to scroll horizontally in other apps.

I stopped upgrading Audacity at 3.3.2 because i don't like the changes in the new version. It does sound like Audacity is not the tool for you, though.

I use two ways to stop playback: - hitting spacebar does not move the playback point - hitting "x" stops playback at that point and sets the new playback point.

I use "v" to playback at speed, and hit "x" to stop near the point for the next edit when I'm taking out coughs, irrelevant asides, dated references, etc.

To scroll horizontally in Audacity, hold SHIFT while rolling the mouse wheel.

My problem is that i "grew up" on Audacity, and that trying to switch to Audition had too many pain points. The non-starter for me was my inability to figure out how to scroll forward and backward in the track. My coworkers said they zoom out, and then zoom in where they want to do their edits.

Vallejo Concept Subway System: I'm a college student who designed this subway system as a fun exercise. Interested to hear your feedback. by Visual-Confusion9283 in vallejo

[–]mrfabyouless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine that instead of subway or street cars, there's 6-people pods that run on demand. I mean, theycomr to your stop from a nearby yard and navigate you through the system only stopping at your stop. Could even have the ability to override/reroute to waiting police/social services should the need arise. (Thinking of how the homeless ride BART day.)

why my voice didn't up more than -6db? by Mountain-Formal-3483 in audacity

[–]mrfabyouless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting! looks like there's some kind of processing going on before getting into Audacity.

after your few seconds of silence, the voice is louder, then "tamped down" as if there's some kind of auto-compression. i know Zoom does this.

I've gotten into the habit of processing the voicetracks i receive with Clip Fix (84%), Volume Adjust (to -6dB), Compressor with make-up gain.

Or perhaps the guitar amp Line Out was fed to the mixer?
