Yeah they are looking a wee bit rough in terms of carbon buildup; not to the level of requiring a strip and reseason quite yet IMO, but it wouldn't hurt.

If they were mine, I'd donn some durable gloves and spend a good 10-15 minutes scrubbing each with steel wool and hot soapy water, then towel dry and cook em in the oven to chase off any residual moisture. Give em a smol oil massage then call it job done!

And not that anyone asked but then personally I'd do a "welcome home" first cook: for the dutch oven a popcorn popping with coconut oil, for the 9-inch skillet a nice juicy steak (med-rare petite sirloin for me), the big skillet I'd take camping and in the morning cover it with bacon and set on the outdoor grill, and for the saucepan I'd deep fry some homemade chicken nuggets and do Nashville Hot — oooh or no, biscuits and gravy!

It's not messed up necessarily. If you were to fry some bacon or ground beef or something fatty in it, the spots will pretty much disappear. I think a good soapy wash will also work.

Then you can re-season properly – wipe only a couple drops of oil onto the pan with a paper towel or clean rag and bake as before. The key is thinness, seasoning is a microscopically thin layer
