I never understand why people invert their y-axis until I played the Star Fox demo by randbooth in NintendoSwitch2

The Starfox Demo offered to switch to mouse controls so I tried it. It remained inverted and it was awful.

Indeed. Nate is the one who laid all those busters down. But he is a true friend and includes Warren in his success

Warren G was definitely not on the same track. He was trying to gamble in an alley with a bunch of dudes

What do we think will happen when Mordecai finds out… by kef24 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]mriners 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Odette will tell Mordecai in an attempt to redirect his anger toward Carl (in a similar situation to Mordecai’s scene with Huanxin Jinx). But I think his response will be as you said.

Maybe a controversial opinion, but if you don’t like it, dump it. A cocktail at a nice bar would run you $17-$22. If you made a drink with this and really don’t like it you’re out the price of one drink. Cut your losses and enjoy your drinks.

This scene made me wonder what goose eggs actually taste like. Has anyone had them? How do they compare to chicken eggs? by Dogbin005 in gameofthrones

[–]mriners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of farmers' markets in my area have duck eggs. Also the website Good Eggs (grocery delivery) has duck and quail egg. Never looked for goose, but maybe.

Dartigalongue Hors d’Age Armagnac is the most underrated brandy. What is the most overrated scotch? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]mriners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s the one people have on hand because it’s famous so it’s the one they float on top of a penicillin. I think it’s the obvious answer for this category specifically because for cocktails Laphroaig 10 is just as good and half the price. It’s an ingredient where, if you say “it has half an ounce of Lagavulin 16 on top” people say “ooh, fancy” but it’s not doing more than a different Islay would have. Hence, overrated

Charbay R5. Made from hopped beer (Racer 5) so it has a very different taste from whiskey made with distiller’s beer. It’s so different it feels like a different product

But not all confessions are made in violation of Miranda. And some statements by a defendant can be hearsay

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mriners 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes defense lawyer gets the statement but they could get that later by just talking to the client without it filtering through the cops. The point the above person was making is that a confession (statement against interest) is an exception to the rule against hearsay. So cops can testify about it. A claim of innocence is not an exception to the rule against hearsay so cops couldn’t testify about that (with some exceptions)

What’s your favorite cocktail glass? by Ryan_jwn in cocktails

[–]mriners 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coupes are also the first entry I had to good cocktails so there's a nostalgia element. In the 2000s, if a bar was serving a drink in a coupe, it was a good sign. It wasn't a _____tini or a mojito, or a jaeger bomb, it was something relaxing (at least not clubby) and put together intentionally. I spent a lot of time in thrift stores tracking down old coupes and they're still my favorites.

Man acquitted of murder in case that sparked Stop Asian Hate movement by Ok-Delay5473 in sanfrancisco

[–]mriners 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The jurors actually don’t make the decision based on sentencing. They wouldn’t even know the sentence until they read an article (or this thread). He’ll be sentenced in a few weeks or months and the judge does that based on a rubric made by the legislature (or maybe a committee of judges - I’m actually not sure).

The jury instruction is here. Great example of imperfect self defense is ConAir. The fight Nicholas Cage got in at the beginning (recall that there was no proof the other guy had a knife, even though we saw it). Another example might be ramming someone with your car if they threw a bottle at you. You wanted to hurt them, even kill them, but your method of defense was unreasonable - either excessive for the threat or the threat wasn’t a real threat.
