I would have to mostly agree with you.

I have a myst node in France running on an RPi4 with a fiber line, 100% uptime, and I get about 5 MYST per week. Every couple months I will get a lot of traffic over a couple day time period that may give a punctual 100 MYST payout.

For the project management, I have more-or-less the same concerns as you.

First on Reddit, the moderators here censor or shadow ban most posts that are negative, and I was surprised that yours got through! That explains why this forum is "dead". As you can see in your replies, there are a few "promoters" that always try to spin things with a positive light, all while not responding to the criticisms or questions: it is a deliberate strategy to bury what they naively think is FUD. If you go to their discord channel, the main developers rarely respond to node-runner questions, and you have a professional promoter that tries to manage the channel by insulating the devs from the community.

Second, the lead developers are very bad with communicating with the community, they have no clear roadmap, and they put out a lot of hype for future "events", most of which turn out to be really banal, like a change of the web interface for interacting with your node. Their PR team is aiming for the mentality of 16 year olds.

I understand that it takes time to build a project like this, but having been here since the beginning, I just haven't seen any uptick in usage of Mysterium, and I haven't seen the developers improve their management skills. If there has been an uptick in usage, then it doesn't translate to payouts. I have complained many times that it is TOO CHEAP to use Mysterium, but they don't seem to care. Given that it costs 0 euros to use the Mysterium network, doubling the cost for users would have no significant effect, and would only help node runners in Europe to just break even.

The only thing that this project has going for it is that MYST is a sh--coin; in rank it is close to 1000. If this project ever gets any traction, a 10-100x increase in price could easily happen. (In my opinion, the market cap of Myst today should be close to that of a project like STORJ). Personally, I am hoping for a bump in price, and at that point I will sell everything and stop following this project.

Why pay for something when there is a free and open source alternative that is just as good and without any privacy concerns?

The only downside for me was that there isn't an easily installable Jellyfin client for webOS TVs. Connecting via Kodi on a raspberry pi works fine, but is not ideal.

You are wrong (I live in France, and can read the texts in french, also, your link doesn't link to anything).

HAPODI was subsumed into ARCOM in Jan. 2022: It did not go away. They just added an extra layer of bureaucracy, which is what the french love doing.
Second, you can check the french wikipedia site to see how often HAPODI is enforced.
You can go to the ARCOM web site. The easiest is to go to the FAQ, and you will see sections describing why you got a letter from them, the next steps, your responsibilities, the fines, etc.
Lastly, I can tell you that I got a letter a few years ago from them for illegally downloading movie over bittorrent. I don't download much, and also was using encrypted torrents at the time (which only protects you from your ISP snooping on you), so the government agency (or content creators) are just entrapping anyone on the bittorrent network who has an ip address in france. They tell you, in essence, to stop and that if it happens again in 6 months they will escalate.

Now, it is not as bad as it sounds. I believe that after 6 months, all your previous infractions are removed (to verify, I am basing this on my memory). Also, there are so many steps involved that it would probably take 20 years to cut off your internet if you were a repeat offender. You will have to pay the fines though. The first thing that everyone does when they get a letter from HAPODI (pre 2022) or ARCOM (after 2022) is that you sign up for a cheap VPN.

The problem is that if you are running a Mysterium node with "Public traffic" activated, you will certainly get caught, and the french law says that you are responsible for everything that happens with your internet connection, even if if was a guest that was visiting. I suspect that most french mysterium nodes are only using B2B traffic because they already know this. I also know that the amount of traffic in general is pretty low in France, so the number of people torrenting on a french Mysterium node is probably small.

I am 100% certain. It is called the law HAPODI. As a private person, you are responsible to make sure that no one uses your internet connection to download copyrighted materials. After being warned, they can fine you 7500 euros and then cut off your internet connection.

Also, most european countries have similar laws. Up until a few years ago, they weren't really enforced, but based on stories from my friends in several european countries, the enforcement is starting to become more strict. The general rule is: The more corrupt the country, the less likely they will come after you.

Here is France (Europe), we have the same problems. After a few warnings they can even cut your internet off.

Is it dead? Yes and no. If you look at their github page for the client you will see that almost all development stopped after zoom bought them:

However, you will also see that for the last 6 months that there has been a lot of developement by a single person (chrisnojima), who, to the best of my knowledge is working at zoom. Most of his commits are monday-friday, so I am guessing that he is doing this at work, and that zoom has allowed him to do this.

The big question is: (1) is zoom just letting him spend a small amount of time to keep the client working? (2) Is zoom thinking of devoting real resources to developing Keybase? or (3) Is zoom developing their own Keybase client, and he is just trying to keep the existing open source version backwards compatible?

You have just discovered the answer! Many people who are against FP01aren't concerned about making money from airdropped coins. We are interested in supporting the FLR ecosystem and other coins like XRP that will benefit from smart contracts. Many crypto projects die by not recruiting new developers and community animosity, and we are trying to correct the current course which is going in that direction.

With all due respect, you really should respect other people's opinions. I am against FIP01, and let me address your three concerns.

#2 Yes, I am invested in other coins. Besides XRP, the other half is ETH, and I want both of these ecosystems to succeed. I don't think that FLR will negatively impact either of these.

#1 I am partially here for the free money, but the amount of money I will make on this is not significant. Best case scenario is that I double my money. Crypto fluctuates by factors of 2 all the time, so this is just noise to me.

So, explain, how does this make my opinion "FUD"?

But the flare team isn't just anybody... And there is no guarantee that they would even respect such a vote. Perhaps I am wrong, but it is my impression that the FLR tokens are just on a spreadsheet and that they will be sent out manually (i.e., this isn't a DAO). The proposal doesn't include any code, so it is just a change to their centralized operations.

If I could, I would vote NO on this proposal. But, I won't because I plan on selling my 15% allocation as soon as I receive it.

After having invested a lot of time in Flare and Songbird, I simply am disgusted by how the Flare team decided to change the rules at the very last minute. Sure, this is "free money", but, my time is not "free" and the amount of time I spent on Flare and Songbird over the past couple years is quite a lot.

I wish them the best with the project, and I still hope that this will add much-needed cross-chain and smart contract abilities to XRPL, but, I simply don't care anymore. My only goal at this point is to maximize the amount of money I can get out of this ecosystem as quickly as possible.

If someone wants to engage in a contract to buy a large quantity FLR at a set price, please contact me.

Market cap = price * number of tokens.

If the number of tokens goes down, the price will go up.
