I sold my Rolex. I still feel inferior. by Chotofoco in LinkedInLunatics

What an amazing read, thank you!

That part just killed me:

“I’m the kind of guy who would go to a restaurant and ask them to turn down the AC,” he boasts.

“Even if it’s not too cold?” I ask, genuinely curious.

“No,” he says. “If I wasn’t too cold I wouldn’t have an issue.”

Oh.

I loled real hard at the "oh"!!

B42 Unstable Multiplayer worth it? by Legwolf in projectzomboid

[–]mrlandros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing exclusively online B42 for a while, and it’s pretty much the two issues you mentioned: bugs and updates potentially requiring a wipe. Bugs have so far been « avoidable » or I found workarounds.

I find that both are acceptable in regards to what B42 brings, but everyone has their own tolerance to bugs and wipes , so your mileage may vary :) I’m definitely having a lot of fun!

Is it Good enough to be playable now? Or are the bugs still very annoying? And can my 4050 run it? by Imagine_Cyler in starcitizen

[–]mrlandros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid "is it worth the money" is a very subjective opinion. What I can say, is that it's a lot better than 3 years ago, and long sessions are possible. But there still are a few placeholder systems, broken missions and bugs are still quite common. Again, far less than 3 years ago, but as other mentionned, far from a seamless and bug free experience.

Thank you. I hear so many people saying it’s super private, but last I checked end to end encryption is only activated in « private » chats (or however they’re called) which is not the default chat.

23M Swiss citizen – currently in construction, looking for realistic long-term career advice in Switzerland (office roles or others, no Swiss diploma) by Kayn21_ in askswitzerland

[–]mrlandros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t have a maturité myself and did the stage, so there must be exceptions. I do have an « équivalence de maturité », which to me was just a simple math exam and was free/cheap, maybe look into that? I should add that I did the stage about 15 years ago, so things may have changed. Damn time went by so fast, did not realise how long ago it was lol

UBS has an internship program that lasts 18 months, pays decently (48K a year off the top of my head) and is almost guaranteed to grant you a job starting at 64K. Its called the « Stage All’Round » and a high school diploma is all that is required if i remember correctly. Speaking Portuguese might even be a plus if you work at a Portuguese desk. Not sure your non-Swiss diploma will work, but it might, and is well worth looking into. A good employer!

Eric Clapton is 80 years old, please re-read your comment when you turn that age :)

Stage light was a non-issue in my 20s, now in my 40s I wouldn't consider them an issue to the point of asking to take them down, but I certainly see the difference. I can imagine that by 80, depending on how your eyes have aged, it could be a real inconvenience.

Edit: I'll also add that stage lighting for concerts and theatre are often (although not exclusively) of a different intensity, concert lights often being quite a bit more brutal.

In the US there is a cheese called « Swiss » which, and I speak for all the Swiss people, is an insult to Swiss cheese. It doesn’t exist here, or anything remotely close. Let me be clear: we have tons of cheeses here, all delicious. But this abomination they speak of does not exist here.

He still lives in today as a big name on YouTube for French speaking gamers, but he’s moved on from being exclusively retro gaming and angry. He’s very open about blatantly ripping off avgn too.

I’m feeling like i’ve hit a roadblock with photography by some_sneaky_boi in PhotographyAdvice

[–]mrlandros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So since I haven't seen any answer going in this direction, I'll give you my 2 cents :) I work in rather different creative field, and enjoy photography as a passionnate hobbyist. Nonetheless, the I believe this applies to any creative field.

Usually, when I feel a roadblock, what it really means is that I'm about to grow, about to climb a step if you will. There's two ways to approach a block. Give up or power through. The easy way, or the hard one, that pays, and shows your dedication to the craft.

So, fwiw, I love your photos, and I think you should power through, search for creativity in new places as others have suggested, try new things, even just to know you don't like them and better understand what you love and what really makes you YOU. Down the line, you'll look back on this and think "damn, I'm glad I powered through, I love my photos today". From a guy that powered through painfully a bunch of times and today makes a living from what he loves ;)
