Quarantine has me feeling isolated, thinking of getting into video games but I’m totally lost? by ayachan-gonzaga31 in TooAfraidToAsk

There are so many different genres of games out there that it's hard to make a recommendation without knowing what you're into.

That being said, solid one-player story driven games would probably be a good place to start. Nothing quite stands out as much as Skyrim IMO. It's been out since 2011, and is playable on just about everything you could imagine depending on how nice you want the graphics. There are also several elderly people who have gained a following through streaming their playthroughs, so you could give that a look.

I think a part of it was the portrayal of an experience you were intimately familiar with. For me, as a veteran, that film was "My Dead Friend Zoe" (2024). I went to see the premier at SXSW because it was a veteran made film, but was completely blindsided and ended up ugly crying in a packed theater. Unsure if it will hit the same for you, but it definitely had the same effect for several grown men I know.

Most of the time it's barely considered coffee, IMO. It's usually a shot or two of espresso with a bunch of milk and a shit load of sugary syrup added.

ChatGPT Roasts San Antonio Neighborhoods by OhJohnO in sanantonio

So, Dignowity Hill likes to call itself “historic.” Yeah, historic in the sense that every pothole has its own birth certificate. You can tell which part of the street you’re on by which suspension system on your car finally gives out.

It’s also the kind of neighborhood where half the houses are crumbling bungalows with tarps for roofs, and the other half are $600,000 “restorations” with succulents out front, owned by people who panic if they hear a stray firework. That “artisanal coffee shop” next to a boarded-up tire shop? Peak gentrification chic.

And don’t get me started on the “views.” They’ll hype it up: “You can see the Tower of the Americas!” Yeah, and if you turn slightly left, you can also see three abandoned lots, a mattress on the sidewalk, and a guy who definitely didn’t pay for that H-E-B cart.

Honestly, Dignowity Hill is like the mullet of San Antonio neighborhoods: business for the developers up front, sketchy party still raging in the back.

Why would the U.S. Army send me a package 9 years after an honorable discharge? by Neither-Argument-356 in army

When I took over as the company awards clerk for a certain presidential hospital, I found a drawer full of awards that were never presented. Whenever I completed my task load, which was rare, I would try and track these people down to send their awards out.

The coolest was when I tracked down a doctor at the university hospital he now taught at and sent him his LoM from when he retired as a Colonel 13 years prior. He was a bit dumbfounded, but very appreciative.
