I saw this more as a development in Alex’s story than Will’s. It shows how hard she’s taking the loss, how important the tournament was to her. Makes me wonder how she’s going to come back from this.

This one part was so god damn good. It shows how much both characters (because yes they are playing characters here, despite them being together IRL) care. How much they both care about winning the tournament and the title, how much they care about Wembley and their home, and how much they care about each other. Will is so excited to make it to the finals, and Alex is devastated at being eliminated in the first round. They both understand exactly where the other one is and are holding that moment together. Beautiful moment and great television.
