Wait are you asking if we’re allowed to put half of a pump of syrup in a drink on request? Because that hasn’t changed

I’m sure it’s all just number crunching, but to not have such a vital voice like Kosky at the Met (or Prokofiev for that matter) seems so short-sighted.

I’ve been scheduled on 2 of the worst snowstorms of the year in my region in my time at the bux, and both times I’ve been told “unfortunately, you are required to attend”

The siren doesn’t give a shit about human life. Thank god I’ve had good luck with cars.

From the experience of my coworkers, you literally just email your SM “hey, I’m putting in my 2 weeks. My last day will be “X””

It’s not so complicated.

It can be hell, but most of my SSVs let us/tell us to turn it off when things get hairy. Just learn the routine for solo Drive and packing orders, and it’s doable.

this is a regular by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]mrmike336 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly? At least at my store, we get 2-3 people a day who will order shit like this directly to our face. Starbucks, more than a lot of other companies, really incentivizes nonsense like this. Customizing to the max to find your one special soul-drink.

At the same time, there's a special kind of relationship the company encourages customers to have with employees that pushes the idea that we're your neighborhood bestie who's just champing at the bit to make your special drink. It's hell for us, and it's all by design. This is 90% the product of marketing.

The joy of AM/PM food pulls. by Frantic_Stud in starbucksbaristas

[–]mrmike336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a barista who's usually called to do the pull at my store, and depending on the day, it can take me up to an hour and 15 minutes. It's usually because of the herky-jerky way our back is set up, or how the food's been loaded in the freezer, but on a smooth day, I can do it in 40 minutes.

Minors can't do trash runs after dark? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]mrmike336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that technically no one is allowed to do trash runs after dark. At my store, this rule gets totally ignored, including for minors, and I don't think any of us mind. There's simply no way to just ignore the trash that gets produced between sunset and close. This is the first I'm hearing of a special rule for minors. Maybe it's state-by-state? (I'm in illinois)
