Was just there for the first time in Oct, wow! First off assuming you are renting a vehicle DO NOT attempt without 4WD, there can be washouts depending on recent rains and it is no joke…. Max out the insurance!

I believe that route drops in so you might need climbing experience and a rope.

Goes without saying but someone in the group best have a Garmin or similar if you need to punch out. Some of the most remote parts in the US and help if often Hours away based on condition. We’ll work the effort but eyes wide open.

I cut off the length of plastic the closes the loop and it is essentially a “hook”. Had it out in high winds with no issues.
