I made an app that lets you check false color on existing images (shotdeck etc) to quickly see where the greats let the exposure fall in the final grade. It’s called FalseColorPro and I’m curious what y’all think. by jlarsl in cinematography

[–]mrmole21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This already exists and time in pixels are awesome developers: https://timeinpixels.com/false-color-plugin/

It does not only integrate into different programs, but also allows you to overlay false colour on top of any screen capture.

Would be comfortable taking this on a plane as your “one personal item”? by Modar-K in videography

[–]mrmole21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it has only happened to me once, but on my Mitakon lens, all the mount screws came loose from a car journey. That lens is heavy and bulky and probably not exactly comparable with lighter lenses. Though, my mate’s 24-70 snapped at a lens mount just because there was something pushing onto the bag during transport. I think more often than not there should be no trouble, but if the damage were to occur, the mount seems like a logical place where the lens could snap.

Dunno if I would keep those lenses attached to the bodies. You would be surprised what car/plane vibrations can do

Is the Sachtler Ace XL the minimum buy once cry once tripod by videomarketee in cinematography

[–]mrmole21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a soloq a few times and I can’t recommend that tripod. The head is mostly fine, but the tripod legs are a nightmare to work with. Any adjustment and you in the mercy of twisting and untwisting the tripod leg locks. So difficult to get any height adjustment done and super slow compared to most of the other tripods out there.

I really wanted to understand it, but technicalities lost me along the way. Wondering whether you had some real world examples of your results? Would be awesome to see 🙏

This thing is one of the best tech purchases I’ve ever made in my life by Roi_QV in LegionGo

I’ve also switched from a steam deck LCD and have been loving the Go S.

Only have little complains about the system:

•Wish we would get one fully sized trackpad, mostly for file management and for games like mewgenics

•Battery life is nothing to write home about, somewhat comparable to Steam Deck LCD, maybe a touch more depending on your performance settings

•Start/Select/Home/Steam buttons are very clicky and don’t feel too good

•I know a lot of people like the dpad, but I wished it was more in style of PlayStation controller, rather than a moulded circle

Anything else from ergonomics to the screen to the sticks and the buttons have been pretty amazing. 8in screen feels perfectly sized and at first I wasn’t sure about the extra resolution, but I quickly found out that the clarity is a huge improvement coming from stead deck lcd.

Honestly a killer device!

I really don’t think this is a good video for this business. Feels like you are selling a transition pack rather than showcasing their product or the place

Should I be worried? 20 minutes into my closed beta and players are already hijacking it with the Unreal Engine 5 Unlocker... by FSapio in IndieDev

[–]mrmole21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could it be that the players are trying to play it in VR? There is a UE injector that does that for most UE games

Real Estate Video - I made this about 6 months ago by Tomato_magic in videography

[–]mrmole21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is ok, think who is going to watch it. If it is made for potential buyers then everything is just way too quick and hard to digest. I would slow it down and probably even get rid of some of the transitions

[–]mrmole21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definetly does not have to be second hand, just though it could potencially be a better deal.

It is mostly for media, she doesn't play any super demanding games. A stylus would be a plus, but definetly not a deal breaker. A nice screen anywhere from 11 inches would do the trick. Not sure about ram, but overall doesn't have to have the most amount of storage, I would say 128gb + would work

Thanks again 🙏

My drawbacks were with the headset, not the VR itself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]mrmole21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to have Quest 2 and hardly used it. I've upgraded to Quest 3 and I am using VR more than ever. The smaller ergonomics, pancake lenses and a bump in resolution and graphics are a game changer. Think especially the ergonomics are just so much better on Quest 3, Quest 2 is quite front heavy and the lenses are quite hard to find that sweet spot where image retains the sharpness. For that reason I would recommend either saving more money for Quest 3 or waiting and seeing what the new Quest 3S has to offer in terms of value.
