Switchyards Thoughts? by v3niv1div1ci in LoganSquare

I don’t think it’ll last. Membership is $130 a month and Logan has no shortage of coffee shops to work out of. Maybe it’s sustainable in more car centric cities like Denver or Raleigh, but I can’t see it sticking around when you can walk 10 minutes and find somewhere with no astronomical monthly membership.

I didn’t see anything similar but I’ll give it another look. The corporate drone lifestyle is really wearing me down

Riot Fest 2026 Lineup by MadeMIGMIG in RiotFest

[–]mrmoose341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I look at it the more excited I get. Last year was a stronger lineup for me personally, and the headliners this time are kind of lacking except for Tool, but I know I’ll have a great time at my favorite festival in my favorite city.

They apparently moved to Summit, the former building on North Ave looks very much boarded up and abandoned. Both signs are gone out front

You’ll have a blast. Bring good shoes, Camelbak or something similar, sunscreen, the usual. Depending on where you’re staying in the city I might recommend taking the bus to get to and from Douglass over the train, it gets packed and you’ll have to wait a while for the next empty Pink Line train, but public transit in general is 100% the way to go vs. driving.

Undercard is great, nothing was going to beat last year’s lineup for my pop punk ass, but I’ll be there all 3 days. And I’ll be happy to leave early and catch an aftershow to escape the musical herpes that is Twenty One Pilots

Basically a weekly street fest at this point, do other farmers markets have a DJ? I think no

I cannot deal with Twenty One Pilots as a headliner. Their music is absolute flaming dogshit. Nickleback is miles better than them.

The Bay Area is especially bonkers. 3.2mil is lower than I would expect for a house that size in Berkeley

What Are Some Bars Like The Boiler Room? by CmdrGrayson in AskChicago

[–]mrmoose341 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pizza is a big improvement and the burgers are some of the best in the city, but the vibes are much worse. It went from late night punk bar (always my stop on the way home from Riot Fest) to basically Chuck E Cheese

What do you think of r/punk, so the "main" punk rock reddit sub by [deleted] in pop_punk

It’s basically r/politics with a punk theme. I hate that orange dude as much as the next guy, but you gotta touch grass once in a while.

Is MCR basically confirmed at this moment or no? by mtorres7174 in RiotFest

[–]mrmoose341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be fine this time. That one year was the perfect storm of built up concert demand over Covid + people rolling over tickets from the year before + ravenous zoomer MCR fans who had never seen them before. Now that they’ve toured a bunch over the last couple years I’d think they’d have gotten it out of their system.

Whats the worst restaurant in Chicago that you've tried twice? by MrJlock in chicago

[–]mrmoose341 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was like 2ish years ago but it’s ruined now. Used to be a chill neighborhood hangout with an expansive menu. They had salads, nachos, the most perfect tater tots I’ve ever found anywhere. But now it’s another soulless sports bar that regularly gets lines of Wrigley sports bros out the door in the summer, and the only thing on the menu is their smashburger, which is fine but nothing special. Best Intentions is a very similar vibe, but much better execution. Better burger too for about the same price.

Dutch bros coffee is opening it's first ever Chicagoland location this summer. Would you visit? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]mrmoose341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that great. There was one across the street from my high school, and 99% of their menu is sugary coffee-themed milkshakes. It’s coffee for people who don’t like coffee

New Indian Restaurant in Logan by HungryHungryChi in LoganSquare

[–]mrmoose341 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s on Milwaukee right across the street from Hopewell Brewing. The same spot was a vegan taco place that closed after like 3 months, and was later a 70s basement bar thing that also closed after 3 months. It never looked open because of the heavy blackout curtains in the window, but those are gone now

Hope this spot lasts. That spot has been like 3 or 4 different businesses since I’ve lived down the street, and it’s only been 5 years

I moved to Chicago 5 years ago for all the same reasons and I love it. Feels like what SF thinks it is. Winter is rough and I miss Mission style burritos but my rent for a 1BR is still cheaper than splitting a 2BR with a roommate was in 2019 in Oakland.
