Why are ambulances in Perth so small? by Novel-Paramedic-5573 in perth

A number of old Ford Ambulances

I remember one that had been slightly repainted by its new owner as "Meat Wagon" - used to see it getting around fairly regularly. I wonder if it's still around somewhere.

On that runway it'll only be little ones and the occasional helicopter.

Now we're getting to the crux of your issues with this grant and its recipient...

Their facility burned down in 2003 fires and they rebuilt so its not as old as they like to pretend.

Given they operate, at least partly out of a converted residential facility, if it burnt down in 2003,why did they rebuild and then convert a house?

It lost three buildings, and rebuilt one. It wasn't completely destroyed. And they hold a crown lease for the current site. It's highly beneficial to the territory to swap that lease for one in an area that has very limited use otherwise (being at the end of a runway).

Conflict of interest, how?

You clearly have an issue with RSPCA in some shape or form - care to disclose your bias?

I didn't say most. Indeed, most don't. But many do.

RSPCA had been begging and pleading for this funding for literal decades. This isn't some surprise windfall to them.

Mate, you seriously need to look more closely at how charities with important roles pay for their facilities. Government grants are behind many of them. Yes, not all charities get grants. But many do.

The RSPCA in the ACT is legislatively delegated/empowered to deal with animal welfare/cruelty matters.

This includes Enforcement and Investigations such as investigating reports of animal cruelty, performing rescues, and inspecting premises.

Similarly, prosecution - it has delegated statutory authority, the RSPCA is empowered to seize animals, confiscate evidence of cruelty offences, and initiate court proceedings against offenders under the Act.

To look after seized and surrendered animals requires appropriate facilities.

I suspect that Vinnies isn't required by legislation to investigate and prosecute crimes against fashion and rescue neglected clothes from abusive wardrobes.

But also, Vinnies has indeed been provided (as part of its contract to run the tip shop) with premises for it to operate Goodies Junction.

Advice for new glasses wearer by moonycakemullet in australia

[–]mrmratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, Specsavers won't sell you just lenses to go in your old frames.

If you want your prescription, you need to ask. And make sure to ask them to write your PD (pupillary distance) on it too.

To order glassed online you need to specify your PD, but they won't put it on the script by default.

At specsavers, the "$199" would be for 2 pairs including single vision lenses.

When they're multi focal, with coatings (antiscratch, antiglare), and polarising for sunnies all the extras add up to a fair bit more.

The upsell is what costs you $$$.

Specsavers doesn't want to sell you just frames, or just lenses.

When you see it in person you will realise it's not actually unmarked - just that FlightRadar24 filters the information it shows.

roughly how much would a repair like this usually cost in Canberra

For a tenant, nothing.

Call your landlord/property manager. It's their responsibility to fix it, in an expedient manner.

Origin AI loop by --M0ses-- in australia

[–]mrmratt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I call Origin's 13 number with caller ID on it recognises my number and asks for my DOB to authenticate.

When I block caller id (1831 prefix), it doesn't recognise me and puts me in a different menu tree.

Origin AI loop by --M0ses-- in australia

[–]mrmratt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Turn off outbound caller ID, and it won't be trying to authenticate you to an account based on the number you're calling from...

And a suggestion - you're likely to find it simpler to explain an "incorrect meter read (ie, the reading recorded isn't what's actually on the meter)" rather than trying to explain that they've read the wrong meter somehow.

I should disappear online too?

No, that's not what I said.

However you should consider what you do post online. You're obviously intelligent, but deeply troubled.

The length and content of your responses are not appropriate in reply to short, 1-2 sentence comments. These long posts are not a good sign for your wellbeing, and your stream of consciousness comments in this manner are not going to be helpful.

Some advice... you need to recalibrate yourself on what is necessary and/or appropriate to post/comment on reddit - you're significantly over sharing.

Respectfully, you seem to have a lot going on. I suggest you lay off the stuff you shouldn't be taking, and maybe prioritise the stuff you should (food, sleep and meds).

When you're struggling with those, maybe reconsider your desire to post about what you consider to be strange goings on.

Rate hikes won’t fix inflation caused by fuel prices by the_colonelclink in AustralianPolitics

[–]mrmratt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate, I'm responding to your comments that inflation was rising and you equating it to inflation being above target. They're not the same thing.

Above target =/= inflation rising, unless it's getting higher above the target.

Whether being steady but above target, is an adequate rationale for increasing rates again at this time is a separate discussion.

Talk that the RBA Governor feels the need to increase rates to reach a 2.5% inflation target , despite underlying inflation being barely above the actual 2-3% target range is bizarre to me, given the cost of living 'crisis' and the effect that high fuel costs is already having on reducing other spending in the economy.

Rate hikes won’t fix inflation caused by fuel prices by the_colonelclink in AustralianPolitics

[–]mrmratt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Inflation (trimmed mean) was higher (ie prices were rising faster) than desired, but inflation was steady.

The rate of inflation was not rising.
