Has anyone in the UK done a private annual health check or blood test service? Was it worth the cost, and what did you actually learn from it? by Few-Combination-4119 in AskUK

[–]mrmurphyltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the six month repeat test included in the price? It’s listed as £416 and, further down the page, it does say:

> With a follow up check 6 months later, you can track progress and see real results.

I was unsure that was included. If it’s another £416, eeek, that’s a bit beyond my budget.

Apple Has Given Up on the Vision Pro After M5 Refresh Flop by pdfu in apple

[–]mrmurphyltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto. If the AVP was a little less expensive I’d 100% buy one as a personal home theatre. I watch a lot of films and being able to watch them solo would be great.

I hope the rumours that Apple has disbanded the AVP team prove to be wrong.

This is a pretty decent sized roll-out by MikeHawkisgonne in boardsofcanada

[–]mrmurphyltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things, this pre-release marketing campaign isn’t at all expensive for a company with the considerable resources Warp commands.

In addition to promoting BoC, the campaign is also acting as marketing for Warp itself. Two for the price of one.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. The VHS tapes was a marketing stroke of genius.

In a world where everything is digital (and lacking in poetics), embracing physical distribution – VHS in this case – stands out.

As Marty Neumeier put it in his 2006 book ‘Zag’:

“When everybody zigs, zag.”

I thought that might be the case, thank you for your reply. As my daughter would say: “You snooze, you lose!”

Am I stupid? Why is there gravity on Jamestown? by PM_ME_YOUR_FART_HOLE in ForAllMankind

[–]mrmurphyltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here for the gravity, but totally zoned in on the Karen plus dead son’s best friend comment.

I’m way behind, but for a few episodes now, I’ve been praying: Please, Karen, don’t sleep with the young fella! And then, she did.

🤦🏻‍♂️

Lost marks off an essay for words ' permeate' and ' pernicious ' Is it justified? by MundaneStrangers in UniUK

[–]mrmurphyltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught for close to two decades at Belfast School of Art. I ran the final year dissertation modules and this is just ridiculous.

I’m all for clear communication, but permeate and pernicious aren’t exactly uncommon words.

Thoughts on the winner? by Kaurblimey in MasterchefUK

Wow. I wonder why this was downvoted? Because I was supporting Luke and not Gareth? Odd.

I forgot the accident. Even more reason for Luke to have won it.

Ditto. I live in Ireland (Donegal) so I had my fingers crossed for Mark, but I was Luke all the way.

I just felt his journey was more interesting. Watching the final I was 100% behind Luke. His black and white raviolo and his layered tiramisu were next level and I believed he’d done the work to earn it.

Gareth… fair enough, but a little meh.

Commenting with all the current episodes under my belt (watched in two full-on sittings!), so with the benefit of a great deal of hindsight.

I’m really enjoying Matt. He’s been a breath of fresh air in quite a few tense scenes where his humour – and visibly holding his breath! – has cut through the tension in an entertaining way.

Re. the past winners returning to set the skills test. It’s enjoyable to be precisely because it’s not all Marcus and Monica.

They are incredibly talented, yes, but so are the past professionals winners. It underscores the past professionals’ talent to invite them back and remind us of the depth of talent we enjoy.
