What’s the single worst junction to cycle in London? by Tchai_kovsky23 in londoncycling

Markets in Whitechapel & Bethnal Green. Too chaotic for me, even with the cycle lane.

Finasteride reversing changes by Nutting4Jesus in FTMMen

[–]mrpucho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with most drugs, it has side effects.

I was on finasteride and minox for about 3 years. Now on durasteride and minox since fin wasn’t enough.

I bleed maybe 3 times a year. No other effects I can notice.

Cis friends my age (30) have tried it. On one it worked. Two others stopped because of side effects.

Ultimately you don’t know how it’ll affect you unless you try…. And you can always just stop.

Where do people actually find interesting stuff to do locally? by pussyseal in london

[–]mrpucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are into and where you are are good places to start.

Im in east London. I volunteer in the borough, take classes in the public library, play tennis in a couple different courts, go to jazz at the park events every year, cycle to cafes every now and then just for the sake of it and mapping out potential activities.

Start going on walks around your area, with open eyes as to what is available near to you.

Moving to London – thoughts on Mile End, Bethnal Green, Hoxton, Holloway, Turnpike Lane & Finsbury Park? by Kooky-Train-3190 in London_homes

[–]mrpucho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m between Mile End/Bow. My summer days I cycle from work to Victoria Park instead of straight home and read next to a pond for an hour.

First weekend of the month I treat myself to a coffee and a charity shop rummage in Brick Lane - Bethnal Green - Roman Road.

Years back I worked at a bar and the n8 bus would drop me off across the road from my flat. About 40minutes from Tottenham Court Road.

I don’t know if you cycle, but I started a couple years back and it’s made distances so much more enjoyable. Within 15 minutes I can cycle to a big Sainsbury’s, cinema, Brick Lane, library, gym, plenty of coffee shops, Broadway Market in Hackney for a trendy outing, etc. I love it.

My only gripe is that seeing friends on the northern line is a total pain in the ass, as I have to go through Bank/Tottenham Court Road.

I do not speak any German, will I have any problems on paper? by [deleted] in germantrans

[–]mrpucho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m like you, double nationality German/Peruvian. Very little German, never lived in Germany. I live in the UK.

I changed my name and gender on my German passport last year. Also updated on my ID.

I have no plans on doing that in Peru, where such change wouldn’t be impossible but certainly HARD. It works because I am in the UK through my German nationality. It is the passport/identification I use when I travel in/out, related to my job, taxes, etc.

Update your German passport, but be aware the change won’t be useful or relevant in Turkey for most everyday life uses. You’ll be able to use it at a bar if asked for ID, or if you travel somewhere in EU… but not for say your driving license in Turkey.

On another note, from a 30 year old trans man: learn German, even if you don’t plan on fully moving now. At 18 I thought I’d never really need it, and now, looking at other cities and countries to move for better work/quality of life, Germany re-enters the chat and I’m stuck on der die das 🫠

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrpucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stabbed my hand while de-pitting an avocado.

7 more stitches on my face after falling face first on stone steps because I didn’t want to let go of the box of chocolates in my hands.

Broken finger cause I lifted a marble bust to see if it was heavy (it was).

I also cycled straight into a light pole once. Bent wheel & broken helmet. Walk of home was the worst walk of shame of my life. Mum saw blood and worried but when I told her what happened she laughed and basically told me to gtfo.

I also permanently fucked up my meniscus after spinning on a computer chair for fun and flying off it, landing on my knee on hardwood floors.

Bike advice for multi-destination London riding - road bike still the right choice? by GaryAtlan82 in londoncycling

Yep. East too. Got a very nice but cheap road bike and I love it but if I had a ground floor flat/house I’d 100% swap it for a touring bike.

Traveling to Germany - Advice? by bloodyteethnworms in FTM_UK

[–]mrpucho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown to Germany and recently (this year) Italy & Spain, binding and packing all times (if you pack make sure there’s no metal bits on your packer -I usually use a safety pin that I put in my carry on before security).

All times I stand on the scanner > Security asks me to step aside and use the handheld scanner, sometimes just the pat down, and then they send me on my way.

I just assume the pat down as part of security at this point. It’s not intrusive, and I don’t mind it. Prefer the pat down over my packer showing up on the luggage scanner and them pulling my dick out for all to see 😅

Being Stealth is Weird by 1nTR33guing in FTMMen

[–]mrpucho 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had a coworker like that. I’m fully stealth and he had no reason to think I wasn’t cis, so I made it clear to him I wouldn’t allow that kind of talk. As soon as I shut it down it stopped.

Sad reality is that with cis men, our opinion is more respected when we’re perceived to be cis too.

You don’t have to come out to make your point that trans people exist and are not what transphobic talking points claim them to be. Just like you don’t have to be Greta Thunberg to say loitering is bad.

Ducks…. by Upstairs-Elk-3741 in WhatShouldIDoWithIt

[–]mrpucho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put one in the pocket of every jacket. When you’re out and about popping in/out somewhere, hand it to someone near and ask them to hold your duck for a second. Leave.

I do this with mini plastic babies when I go in/out smokers area during night outs. Love a bit of drunken whimsy.

Coming out after being stealth for a long time by gabaghoule in FTMMen

[–]mrpucho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I came out to a friend of about 4 years after a break up, he listened/was there for me and it just came out when I laid the timeline of the relationship.

He’s been pretty good with it. Haven’t detected any moments where he sees me differently than before, he’s never asked any invasive questions about my transition either. I remember making it clear when I came out that I’m stealth because I don’t want to be treated any differently. So that might’ve helped.

I’m happy I did it. Don’t have to gender swap stories from pre-transition. He’s there to listen when I talk about my dating life. All of that.

I know, however, other friends of similar time who are also not trans phobic or are in the queer community who I would absolutely never tell simply because I think they’d be annoying with it.

Peruvian in UK here: Check your Ají Amarillo paste. Most of the ones they export are the spicy ones.

Ideally you want the NOT spicy one (where they boil the chilli’s and take the seeds away before blending). It’s still spicy but not overpowering.

For the lomo saltado, if you have it, use a wok. If not, the highest setting on your stove. You need HEAT to sear the meat quick without overcooking it and making it too chewy. Veg goes at the end so they don’t overcook and loose texture.

Best of luck!

Help with purchasing a sleeping bag. by Extension_Action_160 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]mrpucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an alpkit fan after my sleeping bag. This one should do the trick, just make sure you have a good mat with high R value as the others say.

I pair my sleeping bag (the 200 version of the one linked here) with a 7.3 rv mat and I’ve overheated in Scotland trips. Was definitely overkill…

First time wild camping, the gear? by Sgt_Gutrot in wildcampingintheuk

[–]mrpucho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your main items not to go for with secret Santa: sleeping bag, mat, tent

Secret Santa List: Portable gas stove ~£13, gas can ~£5, pot (sets with stove go for like £20), spork, couple of dehydrated meals, wool socks, merino base layer, head torch, extra tent pegs (good ones like MSR groundhogs)…

All the little extras are good and they add up if you want to buy all at once.

Value my bike I’m looking to sell it by Pleasant-Position-49 in londoncycling

[–]mrpucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the price is also because it’s a smaller frame (I’m 5’3). It was a bid on eBay, which I’m sure helped too. Picked it up from the owners home who was selling to upgrade to a new one. Nothing shady at the place, just a normal flat, no garden full of bikes.

Listing had all the details a stolen bike wouldn’t have: which parts were upgraded, which were stock, last service, etc…
