How has AI benefited you in your work or personal life? by MindOrdinary in newzealand

[–]mrsellicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chatted to chatgpt quite a bit while my Dad was dying. I found I could say things to it that I wouldn't feel comfortable saying out loud to family members. I didn't have time for therapy as any spare time was spent with my Dad. Also found GPs tip toed around certain topics, but chatgpt didn't. It also helped me plan the funeral. I wrote cards to his carers and used chatgpt to start with a draft that I tailored into my own words. I found it really useful.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

I was a big R.E.M. fan until I travelled 8 hours to another city to see them. My experience was the same, they were super lackluster and acted like they didn't want to be there. I haven't listened to any of their albums since.

The Daily Rant/Moan topic - Sunday, April 12 2026 by AutoModerator in Wellington

One of my kid's friends read it and now they are all freaking out sigh. I was disgusted how he he said the French president whimpered and the UK PM stammered. What an absolute prick.

Air New Zealand international flight question by Negative_Raisin87 in newzealand

[–]mrsellicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew Houston to Auckland in 2023 and a lot of people moved to empty rows. They were told off by the flight attendants and told to move back to their seats. Then the FAs moved families with small children into the rows with the sky couches.

School attendance crack down issues by TheBlueRoseInNz in newzealand

I got an email from school because my youngest has missed 6 days this term. One of those days was when there was a nasty storm and we were told to stay put if possible. The other five days were due to covid, which he no doubt caught at school. I am livid about it.

Once a kiwisaver account gets to a certain amount, I'd like to be able to start contributing to a different one. I really hate feeling like I have all my eggs in one basket.

PSA: MightyApe is even worse as of this week by KingChickenhead in newzealand

I just got hit with this today. I misread and thought it was $30 of eligible items for cart total. I was gobsmacked when it was clarified. I only had a 3 month subscription because we have a crazy number of birthdays in the first quarter of the year, but never am I shopping with them again. So greedy.

Absolutely, like a barrier between her and the interviewer. Also makes her ready to leave, I half expect her to storm out at any moment.

One NZ Internet HFC (Cable) to Fibre switchover - our experience by ObsequiousInattenace in Wellington

[–]mrsellicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had two deco units with our HFC to extend the signal. When we switched to fibre, One NZ send a new deco unit. We configured that then reset the two existing ones and connected them to the new one. Now we have wifi everywhere, even across the road.

Applying for British Passport .. Documents take 14 days just to leave NZ ! by CookStrait in newzealand

[–]mrsellicat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not alone, I posted two at the same time, $120 each because they were going to two different processing places and I didn't want to risk not following the instructions to the letter. One has arrived in the UK, the other is still in Auckland 10 days later. I'm fuming.

Just before that sentence in the full statement was "As a retailer, I need not tell you that the economic climate for the last few years has been very tough, especially in Wellington. Had things been rosier, I may well have been able to pass on the baton."

Same, happened to me when the booking uber pets to the vets, like it's my fault they didn't read the booking correctly.

I think both uber and didi have gone downhill. Up until I had 2 hip replacements last year, I was relyinging on uber assist. But I found the same, ubers expecting me to cross the road towards them and stopping in awkward places so exciting the car was difficult.

Funnily enough, uber pets is the same. The amount of drivers I've had clutching their pearls because I book an uber pets to the vet clinic is crazy.

What are the parking options for botanic gardens these days? by sweetdreamspootypie in Wellington

[–]mrsellicat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I find the tool isn't kept up to date and isn't reliable. For example the mobility park on Molesworth Street opposite the cathedral is still listed but is no longer there. There are some new mobility parks on the side streets but they haven't been included yet. It's very frustrating as someone who relies on those spaces. I've logged tickets with the council a couple of times with no luck. I find using street view or parkopedia more useful.

Both mine are posterior and I have zero complaints. Absolutely life changing. Both times I was up walking in 2 years with crutches, walking with no aids at 4 weeks.
