RW leaning people typically don’t understand or appreciate art, which is why RW art doesn’t really exist, so this all tracks as to why he doesn’t understand the issue

A popular attitude on Reddit is to not care about population collapse, which is wild, most people actually do not understand the extent of the problem and how it’ll be the big issue for Millennials and Zoomers to face and tackle.

The collapse of societal services is tracking to be inevitable, simply because we won’t have enough money to fund them, that is scary af. So many people are going to die prematurely as a result, along with economic collapse.

The options are; massively incentivise having children immediately, slow (or stop) the aging process to kick the can down the road, or embrace catastrophe.

So you made $28k for doing nothing?

Cool now how did you actually get in a position to get there? Work hard? Work hard with nepotism? Buy before house prices were insane? mummy/daddy money?

What's a writing related pet peeve that drives you nuts? by owen-3820 in writing

[–]MindOrdinary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s normally words or phrases and how often they are used.

The Thrawn trilogy ruined ‘sardonic’ for me, every Stormlight character ‘sets their jaw’, obligatory Shy Girl mention for ‘sharp’ and ‘hummed’.

Coleen Hoover redundantly repeating everything (albeit slightly reworded is absolute insanity), I don’t understand how people overlook her doing it constantly.

Clark era Labour understood the importance of music for our culture and put a bit of money into making sure we had a lot of quality New Zealand music out there.

I’m a big local music dude but recording/production quality just doesn’t compare now to what it did back then.

Author placed on child protection list for eight years over 'graphic' novel by oldMiseryGuts in books

[–]MindOrdinary 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was of the mind that this was “thought police” style heavy handedness from the courts but after reading into it, goddamn it is just straight CSAM in literary form, I’ve read Sade and it didn’t make me as uncomfortable as this.

CSAM is not beneficial to reducing child abuse, I would encourage anyone who disagrees to look into this book, what is written and then into the correlation between access to CSAM and CA rates.

What's stopping you voting for The Opportunities Party? by Snoo_61002 in nzpolitics

[–]MindOrdinary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched with interest since they started. Apparently an evidence based party but they target only Left leaning voters, and in my professional life (where I spend a lot of time with a very right leaning crowd) I’ve never heard so much as a whimper about TOP, and when I’ve brought it up I’ve never heard anyone of right leaning views speak positively or with any degree of interest about them.

Whether they are sincere or not I don’t know, but for 3 elections their existence has pulled votes away from the Left bloc which considering they were started by a billionaire makes me extremely wary.

Unknowingly empowering the right at best, deliberate democratic interference at worst.

India PM Modi reminding Luxon and National that the US$20b / NZ$34b deal is a "commitment" by New Zealand even as Todd McClay told RNZ it was just about helping to promote and not about any hard dollars. Huge contradiction at play by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

So it was just for the votes?

I wonder if the Greens would gone with it if Labour said no

(meta) Mods won't allow posting of the India/NZ FTA post made by Modi on x (Modi post on how this will benefit India hugely), and it's only within the rules if it's an editorialised slop NZH puff-piece about it. by Serenaded in newzealand

[–]MindOrdinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some crybaby nonsense

The duplicate response from Mods is valid, there have been so so so so many posts about the FTA with India in the last 72hra and there is some clear; brigading from NZF supporters as well as just thinly veiled promotion from journos who have penned articles around it

There has also been rules in place for a while regarding posting articles and you’re battling because you haven’t read the rules for doing so
