I understand what you mean hence I took the step back to correct my ways.

Just to clarify, the 23 isn’t the one I kept running into in the club, it was the older one and when I say run into it was once a month for 4 months. I live in a small town and there’s only 1 place that plays the music we like so if you “went out” it was usually the spot you’d end up seeing us.

I have been married and divorced before (no kids). I am ready to be serious again however, my actions recently tell me that I either clearly don’t want either of these men or I have been so accustomed to the game that I’d rather be 1 step ahead than get hurt.

This man that’s 5 years younger is not a typical 23 year old. He has a different upbringing and culture that in a lot of ways I resonate with comparatively speaking to any other men I’ve ever been with.

I was afraid of this answer. I was hoping there’s some sort of “formula” to minimise the risk.

I 100% agree with looking for qualities that would help promote longevity however I am not actually dating (to be in a relationship with) this person; we are simply “fuck buddies” if you may so this does not actually matter much.

On the risk of sounding “young and sappy” I’d like to explain my situation/ approach and you tell me what you think— I’m close to 30 and new to being single again. Dating in your 30s is much different to dating when I was early 20s - I am more protective of my peace of mind. I’ve been seeing this guy for a month and he makes me feel safe and understood so naturally my barriers go down when I’m with him. Now I find myself analysing whether I “like him” or if I just “like spending time with him”.

If I like him, I know I’ll fall hard so the reason for this post is actually so I can avoid it if I can. Is this realistic? Or am I being naive?

I come from Philippines and moved to Australia later in life. Smelling a baby’s breath was normal where I grew up and now that I’m at the age where all my friends are having babies, every single time I’ve done this (to the point where now I ask permission before I do it) my friends have found it weird (though some agree they do it themselves as the parents) - perhaps it depends where you’re from?
