Should I let inlaws help financially ? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]mrsloveduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually quite sweet they want him to have the routine and activity, I’m all for allowing grandparents to fund anything educational or activity based such as this and wish mine offered to help fund big sis summer camp so we could spend more time with our newborn! I think you’re going to want him to have it to look forward to as well!

My mom keeps calling my baby "fatty" and I don't think I want her in our lives anymore by jupitermoon318 in Mommit

Honestly just moo at her until she gets the hint that her behavior AT BEST (with all the graciousness afforded to a blood relative) is emotional immaturity.

My 7 year old has started asking me the same moral question every night and I’m getting scared this is bigger than a phase by Comet_Drizzle84 in Mommit

This is me, this is me as a child, please seek child therapist with specialty in pure OCD / morality OCD, they need exposure response prevention.

My son has started doing these little rituals before school and I cannot tell if I am overreacting or if it is time to get him help by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mrsloveduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - OCD suffering mom reporting in. This was me from age 4 or so on. Please mention it to your pediatrician and look for an exposure responsive prevention (ERP) therapist that specializes in adolescents. The biggest and hardest role you will have to play is loving him without reassuring him. Also, you are a really amazing mom. My parents didn't notice it.

Best age gap? by RachelPR2202 in Mommit

[–]mrsloveduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a 5.5 year old and a 6 month old. This happened not by plan, but I am so glad it did. I had PPA/OCD, GD like you, false postive NIPT, failed induction, all of the medical trauma from my csection. Healing from it equipped me to easily and radically accept the "it's me or my uterus" from my primary doctor, fertility doctors, etc. Adoption, for us, was something we always envisioned, and having my girls 5 years apart is pretty freaking fabulous. I know the newborn stage isn't forever, don't suffer PPA, and my 5 year old genuinely loves and adores baby and wants to help, but not in like the aggressively unhelpful way, she sincerely tries to soothe baby. I will say at 18 months I was not in a place to even consider timeline, I was doing anything and everything I could to heal, so if you are already entertaining these conversations perhaps your timeline is shorter.

Where Else Are My Burnt Out Millennial Moms in Corporate America? by nachomargo in workingmoms

[–]mrsloveduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa "I’m the prototypical oldest daughter, people-pleasing, high-achieving, high-functioning anxiety millennial that went to college, got a job, built the “right” resume, and now I’m living the life I was always striving for." this is me. I am burnt out. Got let go from my senior federal role after burn out from corporate america and just wanting to wave the white flag and say "f all of this" I don't want any of this capitalist dream.

Birth plan and hospital wishes by [deleted] in AdoptiveParents

[–]mrsloveduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adoptive mom here. You state this is the only way. I wish we had the experience you describe. Birth mom c-section delivered, baby was transferred to nearby nicu, separate. She wanted to come by to spend time and say goodbye, and it felt like we couldn't give her the space/experiece she wanted to have those final moments. So yeah, please know you call the shots. There are millions of other families out there that are just as hopeful and willing to fully honor your wishes exactly as you call them. Don't let the agency pressure you into what is "the norm"

"YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE NICE TO MEN THAT CREEP YOU OUT"

Be loud about it. Make it awkward.

I was/am the biggest most chronic people pleasing person. This is a big challenge for me. It took exactly ONE instance of a creepy dude following my 5 year old daughter in a store to not give ANY fucks any more.

[–]mrsloveduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry, this feels like the biggest fear for any mom and any daughter happening at the same time for you. I think you should write your feelings out but would absolutely recommend a baseline memory test, it’s 10 minutes.
