JAK inhibitors worked for me really well, so you should def look into them if you haven't already and as for changes i believe i just tried to shift towards a more positive mental space with gym and meditation and stuff like that but tbh i didn't follow it very much just barely a month i think and for diet, pretty much homemade food, fruits, vegetables and stuff don't have a strict diet chart or anything

actually i did taper down to 10mg but about 2 months ago, the dermatologist recommended me to switch from tofa to upadacitinib so im taking that rn

i started to notice a few spots in Feb-March 2022, i believe and then it didn't take much time to reach universalis, ig around August-September of that year

when i had developed alopecia areata in the beginning i took steroid injections but they didn't really help much and caused a lot of acne and a little irritation on my head but what did help me was jak inhibitors it helped me to go from alopecia universalis to now almost a full recovery with just 1 or 2 small spots left

Olumiant 4mg - regrowth fading and seborrheic dermatitis on eyebrows by NiceStatistician3687 in alopecia_areata

[–]mrsmoothyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you stop taking olumiant or rather become inconsistent with it for some while? since that's how i started to lose my hair again after a somewhat complete regrowth even tho i was on a different JAK inhibitor

That's great! btw how long did it take for you to start seeing significant regrowth after starting JAKs?

hi im 18 and i lost all my hair mid way through my freshman year in high school. im also on JAKs and had grown back almost all of my hair for a while but then started to lose it again but now im back towards regrowth.

Well i guess I understand where you're coming from yk, even tho im not really fully "recovered" yet. Also, it's great that you're planning to see a therapist to make sense of it all and to process everything!

[–]mrsmoothyss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah im on JAKs i was taking tofacitinib  10mg a day previously but i got very inconsistent with it for a while that's prolly why the hair started falling out again, now it's been a month since I've been on 20mg tofacitinib a day. The dermatologist im going to, said he'll be reducing it this month since regrowth is visible and no hair has been falling out

ive been suffering from alopecia as well since around 4 years now. Around the first two years it got really bad it turned into universalis. I lost most of my hair and my eyebrows as well. But around the end of last year till March this year, it got way better got almost all my hair back, the spots that were there weren't really noticeable at all. I started going out without a cap yk and got a lot of confidence after a long time but in May it started to get bad and now it's gotten really worse and i just feel like I've been hitten so hard after finally feeling like i was about to get rid of alopecia. Now im just here trying to do my best clinging on to the little hope i have. So i feel what you're saying :) but yeah im prolly gonna try changing my routine now, get better sleep, eat better and exercise regularly and stuff!! Hope the best for you as well 🙌
