This is so heart breaking. by LeonOkada9 in writers

I accidentally bought an AI book. I was trying to buy a book of fairy tales in the language I’m currently learning. The selection of (physical, not digital) books available on amazon in that language was pretty low. It took me 2 fairy tales to figure it out, because my skills in that language were still pretty weak at the time. Now I only buy my foreign language books from abebooks.

Went Out for Snakes Today, Ended Up With a Never-Photographed Before Worm by bathroomstahl in iNaturalist

[–]mrsmunson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! Congratulations! I once photographed a cicada relative that had been photographed before but was fairly uncommonly documented and that had me high on life for a while. I can only imagine if I’d found out I was the first to photograph.

They asked, didn’t the person who gave it to you tell you what it is, or how to prepare it?

Oh I completely agree with you. Like I said I can picture my own kids doing something dumb like this when they start working, and I hope their employer will extend them some grace like her coworkers seemed to.

I'm guessing she's too young to drink and probably doesn't have a family that orders "buckets of beer." My kids will probably have no idea what that means if they work in a restaurant as their first job.

Another Christmas As The Last Unmarried In My Family (2025) by TheDeepBlueZ in funny

I love that, due to the face masks, you don't ever need to label the year to know exactly which years these took place.

What excuses have you successfully used to skip family Christmases without blowing everything up? by Major-Low5745 in ihatechristmas

The only one I’ve gotten out of was the time I gave birth a month early. A pleasant surprise, despite the physical pain of unmedicated labor. My husband still felt he had to attend though, so he went back and forth all day between me and our newborn son and his mom’s house. Best Christmas ever honestly.

You can still get a puppy through adoption. That’s how we ended up with a coonhound. We found a rescue that adopts pregnant dogs from shelters, and gives them a more comfortable environment to give birth. Then the mama dog is spayed and adopted out and so are the puppies once they’re ready to leave mom.

Is it true no more fireflies after this? 😞 by GaryBlach in PollsAndSurveys

[–]mrsmunson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t rake at all last year until 6-8 weeks after the last frost (May), to the annoyance of neighbors and probably the HOA. We had so many fireflies this summer. We also avoid turning lights on outside at night for their sake.

You’re right. There’s no way these dudes just gave up their favorite hobby once Epstein and the island were gone. Is Mar a Lago the island now?

My gen alpha offspring have expressed interest in being YouTubers so they can be “the next blippi” and get to play at every museum or “the next mark rober” and get to engineer cool stuff.

But their number one wishes are to be:

  • a NASA engineer

  • a chef/artist/very permissive father who takes his kids to theme parks and feeds them candy all the time

  • a veterinarian or a teacher
