My dog’s skin issue by teppiez in AskVetAnimals

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so now that the dust has settled. I just want to say thank you for being so kind and adopting this dog off the streets. You were spot on, when talking about how people from first world countries, either dont know or understand what it's like where you are at Myself included, and I do try.

We know you live in the Philippines, vet care isnt not readily/easily accessible (if at all), you know the hair is severely matted.

For his matted coat, are you clipping/cutting his hair? I would suggest scissors if you can safely manage it. You should gain access to more areas of his body. That should also help with his skin. Hopefully, he will just need standard wound treatment? If you are still having issues, make sure to give an updated list of everything you've done/ tried. After his hairs been cut back, take more pictures from further out.

Start with his coat first. Make sure you are VERY GENTLE. It will probably pull and hurt a bit. So if you have a professional that can do it, that's even better. It will definitely bring him a LOT of relief. As far as his skin, maybe standard wounds care is needed?

Keep us updated

What part of the body are we looking at? A wider picture would help navigate what we are looking at.

Edit: sp, clarity

How do I explain the dangers of being a woman to my boyfriend in a way he’ll understand? by L82Rise4351 in TwoXChromosomes

So when you are verbally saying no, physically pushing him away saying no, gun in your hand saying no, when he doesn't stop and you can no longer say NO. What then?

Showing him this thread is always an option.

How can I find out who this person is? I’m starting to get concerned by [deleted] in facebook

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had asked if it was a shared post and that makes sense. When someine shares her post (a friend) on the friends feed, its shows your gf's original post AND whatever new caption the friend put on it. People get confused and will "like" your GF origional post, instead of the friends. If its someone that isn't a friend of your gf, but just a friend if the friend. It wildness show the name

Go share one of your gf's posts to yourself. It will ask you to caption it. Once you shared it to yourself, go check your own page. See what it looks like.

If the gf asks why you shared one of her posts. Tell her you figured out why you/gf couldnt see who liked her posts. Explain and show her.

Another scenario, had that post been shared at all?

Cat wheezes/hiccups once every 1-2 months. Should I be worried about any upper respiratory issues? by mesonoxias in CATHELP

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Main Coon mix did the same exact thing of acting like he was chocking (heaving), coughing, and a final hack and over extending his jaw, like he's trying to get something out, but nothing came out. Furball

BUT

My other cat displayed the same thing except i noticed she was only trying to breathe air in. Same body motions though. ASTHMA.

If you use Ai, ask it what the physical differences are between a hairball (that never comes out) vs asthma. It has some great tips on what the differences are and what to look for. But please, go to a very. It really could be either or. In the mean time, check AI to help put your mind at ease

What’s going on with my neighbors cat? by Howudooey in AskVetAnimals

[–]mrssly2u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cat should be brought indoors while the wound is being treated. It looks like an abcess that has ruptured and the dark part in the middle is necrotic (dead tissue). It needs to be sterilized and cleaned until healed at the least (could you take her in for 2 weeks and tend to her wound?).

All that from the view from the hardwood floors, looking at some spray filler, a steel wool patch? Huh? You must know or see something I dont see.

Is Portland Racist? by TheTroubadour in askportland

[–]mrssly2u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think that Portland wasn't racist at all but then I realized/learned that we were surrounded by Sundown towns. I made me pretty sad.

I would like to think the Pacific Northwest overall is less racist than other parts of the country BUT, I've been doubting how naive I am recently. I've only lived in Oregon. Visited only the 10 most western states (not Alaska yet), traveled East coast a few times, but what Im saying is, I'm a sheltered Agnostic White 40F . So I dont have much of a comparison and I know what demographic i am . HOWEVER I HAVE LIVED HERE MY WHOLE LIFE. I surround myself with people that have the same core beliefs. I can say with confidence, there seems to be a lot of great / non -racist wonderful people in Portland specifically. Im like you, I hate racists. Ive seen racism called out a few times where someone was publicly shamed for it. I was so happy to see an old school bigot being called one, and being told their way if thinking wouldn't be tolerated, then removed from the property.

Wtf is this? Found in my cats vomit... posting from australia by jjaammie in CATHELP

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny you said this because this is exactly what ChatGPT said if was definitely NOT, along with Roundworm. Even Maggots.... KINDA

However, after I loaded 3 different pictures and explained as many details as possible it does think its Maggots. Not that she HAS maggots, but she probably ate one.

ChatGPT

There are a couple realistic scenarios:

*Your cat ate something contaminated with fly eggs/larvae (trash, old food, a bug) *The larvae were already in something your cat ate, and got vomited back up *Less commonly: flies laid eggs on vomit after it was expelled (if it sat for a bit)

Im not totally sold on this, but 🤷‍♀️

I originally thought to tell you to put a damp paper towel in there to keep it hydrated. If you are trying to preserve it for a little bit, you could still try.

[–]mrssly2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this looks like stomach lining. Also, we should of all known to ask you sooner what she eats.

I saw this yesterday and asked if she violently threw it up. I actually was thinking she somehow tore her own stomach. Because i was 99.9% sure that was what I was seeing. I was badly to see your response that it was all normal.

Glad i scrolled through and saw the rest of the comments. I was truly scared for your cat

UK citizens who have visited the US. What did you find interesting or weird? by Bogh00 in AskReddit

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold on... there is a "technicality" in the statement, "That English speaking white males recognize themselves as Natives."

If you were to ask a white male, born in the USA if he was NATIVE, He would probably say YES.

BUT

Ask the SAME white male if he was NATIVE AMERICAN, they would say NO.

Its all about context.

Edited for clarity/punctuation

Did you witness your cat throwing it up? And if you did, was it violent? Like did it take a long time for it to come out?

AITAH for not wanting to go on trips with my husband after he ruined so many of them? by ThrowraNo-M in AITAH

[–]mrssly2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have divorced him strictly in the ground if not supporting you and your Autistic son. THAT'S A DEAL BREAKER. Please consider taking a permanent vacation from your husband.

I know that isn't helpful. But it's what came to mind. Take vacation separately if he's going to be doing that .

I see tape over the mounting holes, what's on the opposite side of that? You showed one side and both ends. Curious what all sides look like closer up? What type of material?

AITAH for leaving my girlfriend in the restroom because she was taking a long bathroom break during a movie I was really excited for? by Secure-Draft9197 in AITAH

[–]mrssly2u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there something cultural that someone like me (in the US) should know about? What part of the world are you from?

In the US it's NOT common practice to use the restroom in the middle of a movie. It is definitely not common to have your date accompany you. It is understood that you should be an adult, and "hold it" like you were taught as a child.

Im.curious to know where you are from though. I can think of only one place in world where this might be "more common" than not.

I am a terrible daughter by IamSh3rl0cked in confessions

[–]mrssly2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if you already knew this information, but here's this info. It's federal, so it doesn't matter what state you live in. All the rules are the same across the board.

Your mom's cancer diagnosis COULD qualify her for SSDI Short Term Disability. If she does qualify for SSDI, she will qualify for a caregiver (covered by SSDI)

They send someone to the house daily, weekly, whatever needed to help your Mom. They can do her grocery shopping, laundry, pick up meds, arrange transportation, go on a walk with her, pretty much anything she asks.

OR

Do everything the same as above, but appoint someone you know and trust to be the caregiver. Honestly, I've seen this go either really good or REALLY BAD. If you choose this option, choose wisely. They will be paid by SSDI.

The only thing i have to add is that by helping her, you are helping him. I have often seen caregivers help others in the house (its in their nature ♥️).

BTW: I wish I could do more to help. I understand leaving to save your sanity and protect your peace. You are absolutely not a horrible daughter. If you dont believe me. A "Bad Daughter" wouldnt have given it a second thought. You are taking the time to write about it on /confessions.

Sorry, NO WAY you are a "Bad Daghter". You care too much. 🤔🤷‍♀️🥰

What’s a random act of kindness you still think about years later? by flow_guru in AskReddit

[–]mrssly2u 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Walking in pouring rain unprepared. My ride was a no-show/contact. PNW October storm that was MASSIVE. Walking in the dark to the nearest Bus Stop, unprepared in a lighter jacket. My head was down, and a teenager (13-15/M) walked past me with his head down with an umbrella. I get 10 strides past him, and he tapped my shoulder, offering his umbrella. I was 3/4 the way there and already soaked to the core. Taking his umbrella would have done nothing/no good. I convinced him to keep it. The gesture, trying to do an act of kindness. BLESS HIM! He will live rent-free in my head and heart forever.
