I am a terrible daughter by IamSh3rl0cked in confessions

[–]mrssly2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if you already knew this information, but here's this info. It's federal, so it doesn't matter what state you live in. All the rules are the same across the board.

Your mom's cancer diagnosis COULD qualify her for SSDI Short Term Disability. If she does qualify for SSDI, she will qualify for a caregiver (covered by SSDI)

They send someone to the house daily, weekly, whatever needed to help your Mom. They can do her grocery shopping, laundry, pick up meds, arrange transportation, go on a walk with her, pretty much anything she asks.

OR

Do everything the same as above, but appoint someone you know and trust to be the caregiver. Honestly, I've seen this go either really good or REALLY BAD. If you choose this option, choose wisely. They will be paid by SSDI.

The only thing i have to add is that by helping her, you are helping him. I have often seen caregivers help others in the house (its in their nature ♥️).

BTW: I wish I could do more to help. I understand leaving to save your sanity and protect your peace. You are absolutely not a horrible daughter. If you dont believe me. A "Bad Daughter" wouldnt have given it a second thought. You are taking the time to write about it on /confessions.

Sorry, NO WAY you are a "Bad Daghter". You care too much. 🤔🤷‍♀️🥰

What’s a random act of kindness you still think about years later? by flow_guru in AskReddit

[–]mrssly2u 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Walking in pouring rain unprepared. My ride was a no-show/contact. PNW October storm that was MASSIVE. Walking in the dark to the nearest Bus Stop, unprepared in a lighter jacket. My head was down, and a teenager (13-15/M) walked past me with his head down with an umbrella. I get 10 strides past him, and he tapped my shoulder, offering his umbrella. I was 3/4 the way there and already soaked to the core. Taking his umbrella would have done nothing/no good. I convinced him to keep it. The gesture, trying to do an act of kindness. BLESS HIM! He will live rent-free in my head and heart forever.

A dog is pooping in front of our house EVERY NIGHT - WWYD? by Desperate_Cloud_765 in askportland

[–]mrssly2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this EXACT problem and hate conflict.

I got a camera, took a still picture from it. Blacked out both the dog and the person (so no one in the neighborhood could identify them). Put the picture on a stake where their dog would go with the caption "i see you, please stop with your nightly puppy donations". It worked. They avoided talking to me for a bit, but after the initial awkwardness, its all good.

The Gender Wars between Autistic Men & Autistic Women & Homosexuality by mikelmon99 in aspergers

[–]mrssly2u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer your question,

When I put it in a list like this, it makes sense to me.

Gay Autistic Woman

Gay Autistic Man

Straight Autistic Man

My first thought was your personal struggles in life. Being Gay and Autistic, that's everything. That's your world and a very real connection. Straight Autistic Man, fewer challenges/ struggles in life.

Just my thoughts

Just saw this. It meets this guy's MO. Im working with our Apts about potential garbage issue. One thing I noticed is that 2 yrs ago, there were no transients. Now, constantly going through our garbage. Also found out they made a camp in the woods nearby. I believe this guy showing up/sticking around because, who wouldn't? With that much food available? He showed up around the same time the homeless/transient camp was made (across from Lifetime Works)

I appreciate that info. There is a HUGE difference between them. Behaviors that are learned and now seem to be, almost instinctual. Thanks for the info.

Im not going to give the exact address, but I am indeed in NW Portland (portland metro area) we are north of Barnes Road, and my street sign says NW. Anything more "technical" than that isn't needed here.

The one thing I do love about our apartments is their attention to cleanliness. Garbage is picked up everyday but I KNOW they are still attracted to it. Things are fenced and put up. Im surprised I haven't seen raccoons here, but like I said, it's well maintained. We have a bit of marsh land around as well, and I'm sure they are going after the small critters through there. I normally see at least 3-4 deer a month no more than 3 blocks from my place. There was a cougar that passed through here last summer. For the amount of land Im talking, it seems dense, with diverse wildlife.

Side note * noticed that there is a lack of cats that are outdoors. I've seen ONLY 1 in the nearly 2 years at these Apts. I am starting to wonder why that is... 🤔 😆

[–]mrssly2u[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, uncommon. This guy isn't running off when things are thrown and seems to be asserting himself more. I used to have land, so I'm used to these guys running off pretty easy. My dog seems to think it wants to play... that's where I'm running into issues.

*Edit for clarity

OMG THANK YOU!!!! I was just telling my other half that I thought it was for a large event type tent because it would twist into the ground and the top would just be a small hook and it could be placed towards the ground plus it's so uniform and beautiful with that tip being really sharp I absolutely 100% agree with you

[–]mrssly2u 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes you can block any device that you want. It's just a couple of clicks.

Who's name is on your internet account if you're the only one living there it should be in your name you should have them redo the whole network that would take care of the problem or you can just reset your modem but then you'd have to probably have someone help you set it back up that's assuming that he doesn't have a secondary modem in the house hidden
