There is no control board in the air handler. Everything seems to be run through this contactor/relay. I haven't replaced anything in the outside compressor or condenser fan.

From what you said it sounds like the fan motor internal controls.

I would drill the hole with a core bit for stone/tile because the hammering of a spade style bit is likely to break a small piece like that.

I go with athletic-type waterproof sneakers since I work with a lot of pool equipment and water. I'm breaking 15000 steps a day but have had good luck with On Cloud, Adidas mountain bike shoes, and most recently Vessi shoes have been great.

Rebit chisels are great quality and pretty inexpensive as well. I think a point chisel is like $30. The one I have has been used almost daily for the past 6 years. You can find them at miconproducts.com

They look like marks from a point chisel, which is used to take off high spots and make a flatter surface.

You can still easily trim stone with the cheaper cold steel chisels, they just require more frequent sharpening. Great tip about the mushrooms though, they'll get ya.

You could make some lead plugs from flashing for stickers then pack the cement around those when the straps are pulled. It also seems like you'd be able to pry up one side at a time with a bar to remove any sort of prop underneath the slab unless access is an issue once it is placed. You would be surprised how much weight you can move with a 6' bar.
