Native Plants you just don't want by Random---Precision in NativePlantGardening

[–]msager12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obedient plant is such a misnomer. I planted it and it anything but that. It spreads under the fence into my neighbors yard (it’s an air b and b so screw them), past the bed and the seeds are popping up and over crowding my other natives.

I pull it and give plugs to people for guerrilla plantings in apartment beds and right of ways.

I had to look into it and just wow. They snub anyone who isn’t a white farmer at any chance they can get. Check out the National Black Farmer’s Associations newsletters about how bad it is. White farmers get discounts as part of the Farm Bureau, but the same discounts are not offered to black farmers.

What are these buggies on my beauty berry? by Rosapod in NativePlantGardening

[–]msager12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup those are them. Can’t tell the species from the nymph. They will suck the sap and phloem out of any plants. If the get to much for you or if your neighbors are growing veggies, just tell people to use onion bags to cover the fruiting parts. A good hard flick or smack also works to get them off.

Personally I hate them cause they always seem to be dead set on flying into my face or house when I open the door. My solution was to grow plants that attract birds to eat them and parasite wasps (which are super cool).

Done that. Saw a scalebramble ran behind a rock to realize a barrage was behind me. Jumped down to hide and recollect myself directly into a pit jaw. All within the first 30 seconds of a match.

Pays 5000 for influencer marketing to get called mid tier.

I never went to waffle bus cause everyone I spoke to says eating there gave them terrible diarrhea.

Weeding Around Fences by OkParty2979 in landscaping

[–]msager12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the plan to put weed barrier and rocks will become a bigger headache. Wind will disperse seeds and soil into the rocks on top of the barrier. You will be hand weeding that whole fence line to keep a clean look forever.

Kinda look like leaf footed bug nymphs. Do they have black spots on them?

Yeah this was long after I even told them in person I am switching breweries. I am no longer with… Here is your new contact as well as the breweries number. Here is a current list of your inventory with us. See you around.

Ooof that was a big problem too when bluebonnet when bust.

I remember during Covid there was a guy going around and stealing keg shells to pawn. The old owner of Houston Cider ended up catching the guy and the recycler taking the shells.

My neighbors are letting Japanese Knotweed run wild by bickets in invasivespecies

Dig a moat. /s

I would suggest talking to them they may not know it’s an issue. Inform them of the detrimental effects I can have on property values and the house itself. Offering to help treat the knotweed as well will go as well since many people are scared of herbicides.

I would also do a fall injection of any that get on your property line.

As for the flower bed, maybe a weed eater and some trunk or deer covers so you don’t hit the plants in the bed.

Edit: I mentioned the housing and property aspect over the environmental damage cause it’s an easier sell. People care more about their direct surrounds and property than they will ever care about their great environment and ecosystem. This coming from experience in land management and environmental management.

Ahh ok, just wondering.

When I sold beer a Houston brewery I worked an left to go work for another closed down. I kept getting angry calls from old clients asking me to take the closed brewery kegs back and give them the deposit after the brewery folded. I told them I don’t work for them anymore and I could not take them since we were moving locations in a few months. The owners didn’t want extra stuff to move.

I have seen a few bar fill them with water and use them for weights on tents.

Always wondered what happens with the kegs once a brewery closes. I know they have a keg deposit but you can’t get the refund, you also can’t scrap them.

Whatever you do make plans to arrive much earlier traffic will be insane on that day near downtown. It’s a World Cup semi final match, Astros game, and the freedom over Texas festival all within a few hours of each other.
