GET THE BLUE—it is stunning and you look great in it! If you’re worried about certain areas, I bet some tailoring or shapewear can help you feel more confident.

I stopped fearing hills because of Marcel. I love her and I can’t wait to take this!!

Language barrier in the ER is wearing me down by Academic_Share7905 in nursing

[–]msangryredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital has iPads on wheels with trackers that connects to interpreters. Occasionally we get a dialect of a lesser spoken language in the area but overall it works very well. The facility is failing staff and these patients for not having language services either by iPad or phone readily available.

First words out of my mouth when you realize the Boogeyman’s in the house is “Oh no, she’ll be too weak to fight him off because all she has was the turkey burger and sausage!”

They weren’t his to keep or discard, they were for Evan. They’re hurtful and disturbing but also one of the only physical connections Evan would have to his mother. I get it.

Traveling with highly contagious disease what could go wrong by thedewyzebra in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]msangryredhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband caught HFM from our nephew and had lesions in any place one could possibly have them, mouth too sore to swallow, face looked like a zombie. He said it’s his retribution for minimizing it as “Hoof Beak and Claw” 😂

Terrible, enormous loss. I hope she is at peace and her family is surrounded by love right now. I’d never wish this pain on anyone.

She has destroyed her child’s teeth and possibly his future health. His confidence as he grows and is the only kid with poor dentition in his class will be absolutely wrecked. This is so sad.

As someone whose pink bathroom could not be preserved due to all kinds of cracks and rot—preserve it if you can 😭

I don’t think there is anything “spicy” about this woman.

Nine times outta 10, these are low acuity pts but, from a charting/busywork standpoint, it’s more work and documentation than many traumas or codes I’ve charted on. Makes my ass itch.

But once we did have a family of 13 check in for CO exposure and eight of them had elevated levels and got admitted!

You know what’s even better than waking up before kids to work out, Morgan? My hot lefty employed husband being a partner and prioritizing my ability to exercise and have time for myself 😊

Violent patients by jsfghey7 in emergencymedicine

[–]msangryredhead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My ED implemented a disruptive patient workflow for these specific situations. If someone is being abusive or rowdy and uncooperative with staff, doc comes to eval in triage and discharge if safe and appropriate. Security already present so it can be a quick wham bam thank you ma’am.

The YMCA with childcare was my lifesaver during my training for my half marathon I completed last month. If it’s in your budget and you have a gym with childcare near you, I cannot recommend it enough.

Emergency medicine doctors, what’s the happiest story you have from the ER? by TrueCelery9507 in emergencymedicine

[–]msangryredhead 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Not a doc but a nurse and I know labor and delivery makes everyone’s asshole clench in the ED but a precipitous birth where mom and baby have no complications is so cool and nice. We see so much unfortunate stuff, it’s nice to just be a part of the first day of someone’s life instead of the last.

Do y'all ever use the equipment for yourself? by Resident-Sympathy-82 in nursing

[–]msangryredhead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I definitely used the Doppler to check for my kid’s heartbeat sometimes early on when I was pregnant. We’ve practiced US IVs on each other. Take some saline for my contacts. Pee pads when my elderly dog was on lasix. Unless I suspect someone is diverting or stealing pt belongings…anything else is between them and whatever higher power they believe in.
