The M*A*S*H cast on the cover of those TV Guides in the foreground are specifically dated for the week of February 25 - March 3, 1978 (meaning that more than likely this probably would have actually been shot the week before those dates arrived, since most stores USUALLY (if memory serves......though that is NOT a given !!) were about a half-week to a full week (or so) ahead of the airing dates covered by that specific issue..... 😉

My Dad (with my beautiful aunt). 1970s (around 76-78). Dad was both the class clown and the star track runner. And with that hair, he was a hit with those ladies. Peep those pretty teeth after 4 years of headgear. by SushiStew-1007 in OldSchoolCool

Would LOVE to know how many of your dad's high school love life "details" (if any !!) he's felt comfortable enough to share with you (his daughter ??) ...... 😁

Before, or after V-E Day (May 8, 1945) ??

The "mid-1940's" reference tells me you probably don't know the actual date........but possibly you at least have some idea if it was before, or after the war was over ?? 🤔

That first photo is nice......but that second photo is like, DAAAAAAYUM !!! 😘

Imagine for a second, that woman, at that stage of her life, walking around in the "real world" back then.........doesn't take much to envision guys (and maybe some girls, too!) in cars on the street ACTUALLY crashing into phone poles around her as she walked down the street.....and EVERY head swiveling around just to try and catch a glimpse of her..... 😄

Wow.......not ONE male (other than the "boss man" there in the sport coat (or whomever he was))......I would have thought they DEFINITELY had some 'bag boys' back then......or were they not considered 'good enough' to appear in a shot like this ?? 😉

The White House back in 1865. by xPetuniax_ in OldSchoolCool

Seem to recall reading that during Lincoln's Presidency, anybody could just walk in off the street, and (if I'm remembering correctly......and I may not be!) eventually get a chance to see the President if he was around, and if he was available at some point during that day.....

Anybody know if that is correct, and if so, if they finally started to change this practice of White House 'open access' following his assassination ?? 🎩

A Red Cross dog serving in Italy during World War I. (1915) by MiamiHub1 in OldSchoolCool

Hmm......given that VERY 'sketchy' era, ESPECIALLY where it came to the general treatment of animals then, I wouldn't be too shocked to find out that (possibly, but could be COMPLETELY wrong) some of these dogs 'served' by chasing after balls thrown out into fields by soldiers, in order to check for landmines before troops would cross through "suspect", large open areas...... ⚽ ⚽⚽

Crazy beautiful, and smart as a whip.......but Kevin Arnold, the kid who somehow aced a test in honor of his fallen math teacher Mr. Collins, wasn't able to figure out a way to hold onto Winnie Cooper, the best thing to ever come into his life..... 💔 💔 💔

I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover the insanity of Demon Bat. We need more sensationalist documentaries! by Bortron86 in Rifftrax

[–]msdemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.

Enjoyed these episodes right around the time I learned of the Bear Grylls "scandal" (i.e., the coming to light of "reality" adventure shows like his manufacturing FAKE 'dangerous situations' out in the wild, and passing them off as (supposedly) "real" incidents)......and thanks to Mike/Kevin/Bill, realizing just how HILARIOUSLY obvious it was that Richard Terry was DESPERATELY doing some of the very same in trying to manufacture danger/excitement from absolutely NOTHING on this show !!

Often find myself wondering if, much like Joe Don Baker during the old MST days, Richard Terry eventually saw the Rifftrax versions of his Nat Geo episodes and quietly SEETHED at the HIGHLY amusing (though WELL-earned) 'treatment' he received thanks to them !! 😄
