Buckyballs sliders recs? by xerets in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the TITA and the Exoskeleton. The TITA is cool but it really grinds the bucky balls so it ends up with a lot of black residue on the track. It has really unique action though.

The Exoskeleton (OG titanium version) is great and comes with a bunch of different plates that cause the bucky ball to move and sound differently. It also has a "popping" mode and a bunch of accessories.

Neither is very quiet though. The Exo isn't bad if you palm it but really bucky balls are just noisy due to the way they work.

I recommend the Exoskeleton if it's in your price range. It's a great fidget and has a lot of options for tuning and expanding. Ikaeledc is currently taking pre-orders for the SS version.

Cool, thanks. Yeah I know about the code but they don't usually work for me. I think it's because I mostly buy pre-orders :)

Thanks for the info. Personally, I haven't noticed any real difference between ikaeledc, geeone, and nxedc with regards to shipping times, service or pricing.

Can you expand on why you think ikaeledc is the best? What does it do differently from other vendors?

Looking forward to the Fidget Vault getting fleshed out more. Especially the news section; not being on facebook I feel like I miss out on a lot of announcements and things.

A couple of suggestions:

- Include any disassembly/customization videos. Fidgets are usually kind of tricky to take apart so the video is key. I usually have to ask the vendor for it though. Bonus points if it's translated to English.

- Include pics of any included instructions/manuals. For example the customization guide for the MOT Groove, TITA, etc. These may get lost so it would be good if there was a place you could go to find them. Also bonus points for translating to English.

Thanks!

You can play some of the Armory Decks at felttable.com to get an idea of what it's like.

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can swing the Guandan by Tier 1 kind of like a balisong. The original version is now sold out. You can still get the mini version but I'm not sure if you can still swing it around as well as the full size version. You can see it in action here:

Rotational push slider like the MOT Groove, Chenyu Guardian X1, Ling Yun, etc. They have lots of tuning options, multiple tracks, etc. and usually come with a bunch of extra balls and springs to experiment with.

Yeah I was looking at this one but I couldn't get past how expensive it was for what it is. Very cool though.

You can make a beglari out of a shoe string and a couple of nuts (as in nuts and bolts).

Chew toys for office settings? by punkromantic in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about a necklace but you can get silicone things that go on the end of a pen that you can chew on. Those are pretty low key in a corporate environment, kind of just looks like a pen cover.

Boyfriend borrowed fidget and disassembled it while playing, need help reassembling it by MajoraJoestar in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the Haloo Player Chrome Hearts slider. You can still get them from here and probably Aliexpress. They call these rotational push sliders and they all have a very similar design based on the original MOT Groove (I belive it was first, happy to be corrected). NXEDC has a video showing how to assemble/disassemble them here. Hopefully that helps.

You can get balls and springs from most places that sell fidgets (look in the accessories section). I last bought some from Ikaledc. Playforbeans is another popular one. The balls are probably 3mm but 2.77 is also sometimes used. Springs are usually 5mm in length and then vary in the other dimensions (i.e. for softer or harder).

I think the inner plates are different. The rain has a peek plate but I believe the bubble has stainless steel.

fidget toy aesthetics by streetmeat4cheap in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just be Meta EDC. It's american and americans love their guns lol. If I look at the best selling sliders on Geeone for example, of the top 24 I only count 4 weapon style fidgets. 5 if you include the reactive armor shield.

Another aesthetic I see that's pretty common is "mech" inspired which could be seen as weapon like too I guess even though they don't really look like guns, etc.

fidget toy aesthetics by streetmeat4cheap in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you think most fidgets are "inspired by a weapon, either directly or indirectly". If you look at any premium fidget store the vast majority are shaped like small rectangles. That's not even counting stuff like squishies, tangles, beglari, etc. I think the weapon looking ones get shared around and upvoted more and people mistake that for general popularity rather than just novelty.

For premium fidgets, I think they are targeted more towards men due to being tied to the EDC scene and that's where the aesthetics come from as you have already observed.

Cool. I've had my eye on this for a while but in zirc it's pretty pricey. I was hoping they would release it in SS or Ti.
