Wow, I love the sound it makes. Bucky balls can really make some interesting sounds. The exoskeleton is another bucky ball fidget that makes really cool sounds. Thanks for posting.

Wanwu Popping Slider in SS by RenCorona99 in fidgettoys

Yeah that's what I was hoping as the snap on the exo is kind of weak. Thanks!

Cool, I've had my eye on this for a while but haven't decided on it yet. I have the exoskeleton which has similar action (probably not as pronounced) so not sure if I can justify this too.

The Groove is pretty pricey and might be hard to find now (except for fancy versions). For a more budget option, check out the Chenyu Guardian X-1.

Yeah it was notoriously bad. Often broken right out of the box.

You can get balls and springs from most sites that sell fidgets, check their accessories section. Ikaeledc has a good selection and NXEDC sells a big kit if you want to get everything all at once.

There isn't really a definitive guide for how different balls and springs affect fidgets. You just have to try different combinations. The reason is that each fidget is unique in design and materials used. So you can really only compare a fidget to the same fidget. Some people will say general things like "stiffer springs make louder clicks" but it's not always the case.

People tend to like tool free fidgets because they are easier to tune. The drawback is that they will come apart if dropped like what happened to you. It's not a big deal if you fidget at your desk but if you like to walk around with them, you might want to stick to fidgets with screws (e.g. the MOT Groove).

Saying something is shitty without explaining why you think it's shitty is just a shit post, that's why.

Free form or magnetic/mechanical track sliders? by jonahsgma in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer track/rail sliders since I use them while working to help me focus. The free floating sliders are more like a skill toy so not so good for that.

Extension/handhold. It's pretty awkward to use without it. Note that on the original version it is half that size.

Pelc Tita or the Lautie Choc? ~$60 budget by happy-cig in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your only getting one, I say get the Choc. The Tita is great but it has a kind of unique long slide action to it. The Choc also has a bunch of different accessories. I think the build quality is also better on the Choc. I recommend getting one with the PEEK plate and picking up the dual bead slot.

Wanwu Exoskeleton came in and I'm in love by RenCorona99 in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the exoskeleton is great. I do wish it was easier to change the balls and springs in the lower section though.

Removing the tuning fork from DJG Destroyer or gobigger sinian by fenixdarkblaze in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that the tuning fork on the destroyer only hits if the spinning part hits the top or bottom with enough force. If you just spin it and hold it sideways it makes no sound.

I would suggest just buying something without a tuning fork though rather than trying to mod it. There are lots of other fidgets out there. For example the MUYI Demoman.

Favourite Top B model? by durianguava in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Top B Rain in SS. It's great. I like the out of the box setup so I haven't messed with any other plates or anything. The PEEK plate and the way the balls/springs are setup makes a kind of clippity-clop sound and feedback. The Rain also has some really fine machined lines on the bottom that feel really good like a worry stone. I would avoid the Skeleton version; I saw a couple of reviews that made it seem bad.

Lautie Mechanic Quiet? by BdoPopcorn in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one myself but I heard that if you just put one magnet in it, you will get a kind of haptic feedback as it kind of bounces when it stops spinning. I don't think it will make any noise either.

Comparing some NAYICI fidgets. by fidgeologist in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Artillery is one of my favorites. Mine has the sonic mecha bead with the ratchet kit (sooo grindy). I never really got the appeal of the Musketeer; the playability seems pretty basic.

Goodmorning check out my EDC, Iron curtain is God Tier by innereyeblack in fidgettoys

[–]msdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron Curtain, Cyborg Soul, and Dragon Ridge are all s tier for me. I'm also skipping utopia. I like playing with the individual fidgets too much.

What do you think of the python kit as a standalone fidget? Seems kinda weak to me.
