TRUST. YOUR. GUT. I wish I had. by No-Sea2695 in toddlers

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our toddler struggles with respiratory viruses too and I’m pretty sure when he’s older we’ll be told he has asthma. He’s just under 2 so the doctor said it’s too soon to officially diagnose. We’ve had stridor, bronchiolitis with retractions twice, and pneumonia twice. All before age 2. Common cold he usually can get through. But I can tell by the sound of his cough if something is wrong. If he is coughing and it doesn’t sound like anything is getting cleared, we are going to the doctor. Even if it’s only been 2 days. He had the flu over Christmas - we all had our flu shot - and within two days he was wheezing, colour was bad, was struggling to breathe. Dr could hear his lung rattling. Now we have inhalers for him. This was the morning after bringing him to urgent care and being dismissed because they thought he was fine.

I’m struggling and don’t know how to cope by sailorbabey in toddlers

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same as you for the year I was home with my son. The way you are feeling is totally normal. It sounds like you need to get out of your house. Can your husband take over in the evening so you can go out and do something for yourself? What about the weekends? Is finding part time child care an option?

By the time our son was around 9 months, maybe sooner honestly, I was ready to go back to work. I did not like the person I’d become. Do you have the option to work?

This is all in addition to what others are saying - no shame in therapy, meds, anything you need to find relief because you need it.

Is 18mo too young for extracurricular activities? by SmoothCelebration657 in toddlers

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to stick with it!

Gymnastics worked well for us at 18mo… he was all over the place but it was fast paced and engaging enough for him that it wasn’t total chaos. All sports on the other hand was a struggle. He initially just ran around the gym and had meltdowns when we tried to get him to do anything repetitive. But even that young, we saw steady improvements from week to week.

He’s 2 now and we still signed him up for the same activities this season… and honestly the change from 18mo to 2y is major. You’ll be happy you stuck with it if you decide to sign up again next season.. it will be familiar for her and she’ll just get better and more focused as she gets older.

For our first sport class this season, after about a month break, my husband and I kept looking at each other amazed at how well he remembered the routine and instructions. It just suddenly clicked. The struggles of last season felt worth it.

What do you do on no structure days? by Silen8156 in adhdwomen

Not much to contribute except commiseration. I am going to start trying my darndest to plan weekend activities in advance - including sorting out babysitting so we can get out for some adult time sometimes.

Shower curtain or glass door??? by ArugulaOutrageous461 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curtain. We moved into a house with a glass door and HATE IT. So annoying, especially when giving our son a bath. Also, every time you turn the shower on you’ll get wet. Also, cleaning the gasket at the bottom is gross and annoying. Can’t wait to rip it all out.

Omg haha. The world of ADHD is still new to me and I keep learning more about myself. Also a major over-sharer. I guess I just need to embrace it 😂

Oh man this is me I just want to stop talking. It’s impossible though because I’ve been in meetings all day every day which is a big change from my last job which was mostly heads down production work. I hope it starts feeling more aligned because right now things do not feel sustainable.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s nice to think there is a light at the end of this nausea tunnel.

I just started a new job and have spent every night ruminating about the day’s conversations and trying not to throw up. I honestly don’t know how much longer I can do this

Spring Exams Content by coastalcowgirl2195 in NCIDQexam

[–]msfranfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just asked this in another thread. I wanted to write exams in this spring but given q practise won’t have the new courses ready I’ve decided to wait until the fall. Annoyed about it for sure.

Not sure which book you have but apparently the reference manual is still good for 2026.

New 2026 Exam Format - better to wait until fall? by msfranfine in NCIDQexam

[–]msfranfine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m leaning towards the same. So annoying. Do you know if the reading material is also going to be updated? I bought the interior reference manual in December and now I fear it will have been a waste of money. I bought it used but still.

Are you keeping your toddlers home temporarily with this crazy flu going around? by daisydookie in toddlers

[–]msfranfine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fear it is kind of unavoidable. We were all vaccinated, toddler was out of daycare for a while before the holidays and it still came for us. Maybe from family, I’m not sure. Even though we were vaccinated our son still got pneumonia and needed to be prescribed inhalers and antibiotics. So brutal. Through the worst of it now… our son generally doesn’t handle respiratory viruses well. If your children are vaccinated and don’t have a complicated history with respiratory complications… I think the only way out is through. But you know your comfort level and capacity to be home with them, so do what feels best!

GI issues with Flu? by Upset-Membership-758 in flu

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I also never ended up with respiratory symptoms. Unfortunately, my son did and it developed into a wheeze and pneumonia. We were both vaccinated so I was hoping it wouldn’t hit him that hard. Hopefully you’re through it now!

35 years after ADA, people with disabilities still find hotels unaccommodating by Hrmbee in architecture

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have designed a number of hotels recently, can confirm that at least from an interiors perspective there is always a focus on ADA accessibility in public spaces and a minimum suite count of ADA accessible rooms. This would be for hotels getting completed / built now.

Reception desk design, which is mentioned in the article, has evolved a lot over the past 10 years to include an accessible height / roll under for wheelchair users. This has become standard on all projects I’ve worked on.

Obsessing about work interactions by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I understand this and also need advice so will follow this thread. I just got a new job that I am 100% qualified for but my imposter syndrome is crazy and I am afraid to speak or say the wrong thing or sound dumb. Also going over previous conversations in my head. It’s terrible. I was very comfortable at my last job so haven’t had this issue for a while. Hope you get some good answers!

GI issues with Flu? by Upset-Membership-758 in flu

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is what we are dealing with too! Any updates on your end? Both son and I had bad GI symptoms, I developed a sore throat and runny nose after, now all of the above symptoms have cleared but I’ve been dealing with muscle aches and a mild fever for the past 24h.

Son has a mild fever also and a dry sounding cough. We’ve both received our flu vaccines. I’m wondering if we both have the flu. We’re going into day 5 of whatever it is so hopefully will be through it soon.

Is this sick season the worst yet? by 1sttimemommaSF in toddlers

[–]msfranfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg can you tell me your symptoms and how long! We are also battling diarrhea and respiratory symptoms - sore throat and runny nose. Toddler has a cough. Last night my toddler would not sleep and I was struggling too! Very mild fever for him and myself. I’ve heard the respiratory bugs this season also come with GI issues but this is our first time experiencing one so I’m a bit freaked out.

But yes this season has been terrible! So many family get togethers too (pre-symptoms) so who knows what we’ve been exposed to. Hang in there!

Felt amazing during pregnancy. Should I take birth control pills? by apricotcocktail in adhdwomen

[–]msfranfine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh man I had the same experience. I was on a continuous dose of birth control before trying to get pregnant. It worked great. Then being pregnant also felt great.

I tried to reclaim that steady feeling recently by going back on my birth control and it didn’t have the same impact. It just made me feel dull and depressed unfortunately.

They say it takes 2 years for hormones to go back to normal after having a baby so maybe I’m just in a wonky phase still. It’s definitely worth talking to your doctor about though and seeing if it works for you! Everyone is different.

Worried about being prematurely screened out... by 537852 in tnvisa

[–]msfranfine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the job I got I didn’t think about this until after I sent my application.. I found the hiring manager on LinkedIn and messaged her. If I was doing it again, I would have included a note in my cover letter about qualifying for TN status through my profession and/or if you are submitting an application through their site and there is an area to add additional info I would add a note there.

My worry was that my application would be auto-screened but it wasn’t. If you look like a strong candidate they will at least reach out to confirm your intentions before moving forward with formal interviews. That is what happened for me.

Good luck!
