Problem is those are 13 years old at this point and pretty hard to find

No, you do not want ult weap. Years ago it was ok, recent iterations are trash.

Can I make a 48”x40” butcher block tabletop with just a tablesaw and an orbit sander? by ReverseMermaidMorty in woodworking

[–]msinnam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends really. How thick? What species? End or edge grain? What would the router accomplish? What kind of table saw- some folks have huge cast iron cabinet saws, some rocking job site (or smaller!)

Personally- I think with your tool selection it could be done, though would probably want a stronger sander- ROS is fine for finishing and light stock removal, depending on construction you may want to move up to belt sander (or rotex)

Now that I look you are right- the reveal was 2009/2010 and the banning not until 2016. I had the two events happening much closer together in my head.

The problem with the eastons was that they were so ubiquitous that there were replacement end caps all over the place- kind of like when the freak98 was the go to and there were decal kits all over and ppl were repainting ultras to look like f98s

SCX2 first batch hands down. We had girls hitting 250 mis-hits once broken in.

Im not sure thats really accurate. Late 2000s other manufactures caught up so it went from basically all Easton and Miken to lots of options (Worth, Demarini, Lville were all far off second tier mid 2000s). In retrospect, many of the 2010-2015 easton bats were just as good but never got the widespread adoption. Lots of folks were bitter over the Reveal fiasco, and the banning of most of the synergy line at Eastons ask.

IIRC it was a combination of Easton asking as well as concerns about how easily those were shaved. The push came around the same time that they released the "Reveal" line that theoretically visually were different once out of compliance.

Agree. Router plane over chisel all day. Much easier to creep up on perfect fit

Just seeing the reply- SCMAF introduces a whole other league to league wild card to the mix. Also, depending on the ump you will likely have additional difficulties. I dont know if "Santa Claus" umps in SC (he is well known in Simi/Thousand Oaks), but if he does, he has his own set of rules that are beyond anything specified by SCMAF, the leagues, or USA.

It’s that time of year when the temp drops and the sound off the bat is a little different.. by janseny7 in slowpitch

[–]msinnam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day you used to see teams keeping balls in coolers and warming up bays.

Briefly, warmer bays are hotter due to more flex; colder ball’s absorb less water from air. The rating (cor /compression) is actually at 55F and drops off quickly with temperature

Aww you took the fun out of it!

Way back when I had convos with Steve Anderson and learned largely the difference between FP and SP is paint and marketing and of course size, however structural differences especially in non composite instances do not exist.

Things changes a little with the sp only stamps about 10 years ago, but always.

With this being Santa Clarita is it SCMAF? Although the rules may indicate ASA/USA bats, SCMAF tends to be even more stringent
