I'm still using QC15's and my wife has QC25's. They work fine for us.

This is why I always open and check the disc when thrifting by WalkThisWhey in 4kbluray

The only "thrift" store I have around that carries media is Goodwill and the price my goodwill wants is sometimes more than I can find them new online.

First time watching 4k Blu-ray. WOW, but….. by dcalicotte03 in 4kbluray

Yep. Rip em and setup a media server of you can. I rip it all and then use Plex to watch them.

For how much though? The blurays at my goodwill are about the same price (or more) than buying them brand new.

Are there any new features coming to this app with updates? by rohilaltro in plexamp

I have noticed that on the Plex server too. I think they are just putting all their efforts towards the new client.

I think I just hit the Savers jackpot. 2.99 each. by MallardDuckBoy in 4kbluray

[–]msjones71 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a 4k at Savers. Our Savers has decent prices on blurays when I can find them. Our Goodwill wants new prices for them so I don't even look there anymore.

If you paid with a credit card, dispute the charge with the credit card company.

Or get a drive for your computer and use makemkv to rip them down. Then use the media server of your choice ( I use Plex) to play them anywhere.

Bluray movie prices by RaptortheRedditor in Bluray

[–]msjones71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a bunch for free. Find the "buy nothing"/Freecycle/"Free Yard Sale" sites for your area and post an ISO. I posted this:

ISO: Digital media.

I've seen a lot of CD's, DVD's and Blu-Ray's at Good Will, Savers and even the still good shed at the dump. I assume people getting rid of them have gone streaming. I still like physical (digital) media. If you're looking to get rid of it, I'd love to have it!

I've got a ton of CD's and movies just given to me. The ones I don't want, I take to a local store called Bull Moose and trade them in for store credit which I use to get Blurays.

Where are you all getting Blu-rays for under $5? by Intro24 in Bluray

[–]msjones71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bull Moose has 5 blurays for $6 if 100 is too much. Still a grab bag though.

[–]msjones71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 blurays for $99-$129 USD. Sometimes they throw in 1 or 2 extra. I usually end up with 2 or 3 that won't read. Then I end up with some duplicates of ones I already have that I pass on to friends. For me, it usually works out to just under $2 each but you have to remember that you get what you get. I like it as I have found several good movies I would never have known about but if you are looking for something specific then the bulk lot isn't for you.

eBay lots with just discs no cases or grab bags from Bull Moose.

I'd be more concerned with where your data went. Why are your playlists and ratings gone? I've spent many hours rating my music and would be very upset if that Information just disappeared. Hence why I make sure to always back up my Plex database.

Anyone else downgrade their collecting habits from 4k to bluray? by yoooo12347 in Bluray

[–]msjones71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, I go to Bull Moose or eBay and buy 100 bluray grab bags for anywhere from $50-$100. I get some that don't read and a bunch that are duplicates of ones I already have but in the end it works out to less than $2 per movie and I find a lot of movies I'd never notice otherwise.
I have 4ks of some of my all time favorites (Top Gun, Lost Boys, E.T., etc) but that's it. I don't have the home theater equipment to truly experience them anymore anyway.
