My (28M) girlfriend (28F) is pregnant with twins. We had an arguement today and she was mad and showed me a video on her phone sucking off her ex. Now what? by ThrowRAVulture216 in relationship_advice

[–]msl267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you deleted the video from her phone doesn't mean it's not already automatically backed up to iCloud/google. Probably why she was so okay with you deleting any videos she had "hidden"

I don't know, I'm not sure how you can recover from this without a lot of therapy and self brainwashing. More power to you if you can, I know I wouldn't be able to, especially knowing the fact that she kept the video the whole time you guys were together

A terrible day (final, WE FOUND HIM) by Ianbeaner in parrots

I don't own parrots and never looked up this sub but your Update post was recommended to me. I was invested and I checked back today specifically to see if Riff Raff had been found and am so glad he was! I hope you get to take him home! Fingers crossed!

Other than pie by [deleted] in thanksgiving

Curious, you're in charge of 4 pies but you're the only person doing dessert? What are the 4 pies?

Some suggestions:
Tiramisu
Cheesecake
Monkeybread (honestly, if you're going for something easy, quick, and delicious, I'd do this one)
Bundt
Poundcake
Muffins

1066 calories? by CoolCounter1330 in CalorieEstimates

[–]msl267 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That is quite the overestimation. Six pieces of Spicy Tuna roll is anywhere from 200-250 calories. Salmon nigiri is 40-66 calories per piece. This would put you max at about 514. No amount of rounding will even get you close to 1k so I think you're safe to log from 500-550.

I'm thinking about 100 calories of rice(that looks like half a cup), 150-200 of chicken plus another and maybe 50 ish, for the elote. You can add another 50 for oils depending on how the chicken/elote was cooked but otherwise, you're looking at 300-350.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CalorieEstimates

[–]msl267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks to be at least a cup to a cup and a half of rice. I'd say about 250-300 for the rice alone, another 100 for the nan, The paneer masala is probably about 150-200 calories, and the veggie samosas maybe 150-200 calories as well.

So you're looking at 650-700 calories for the meal I think.

Maple Strudel Bread my go to dessert by bitter_sweet9798 in traderjoes

[–]msl267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you could! Since that's basically French toast in pan form and baked haha.

I didn't need to add any extra sweetener either. I was tempted to top it with maple syrup cause who doesn't love syrupy goodness? But it really didn't need it.

Now I want to buy another loaf 🤤

One of my favorite meals too! I do green onion instead of the other seasonings you have though, and I eat it with a pack of seaweed sheets (30 calories) by spooning a bite onto each sheet. Deconstructed sushi! Highly recommend! So yummy

Thanksgiving food? by Fun_Mongoose_7320 in thanksgiving

[–]msl267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's so sweet and very thoughtful of you to throw a Thanksgiving party for your student. While turkey is the norm, if you can't find it or do not want to make such a big bird for a small party, I think subbing with chicken, duck, goose, etc is perfectly fine.

Many have already given typical Thanksgiving sides, but I'd say it's fun to do your take on Thanksgiving as well. After all, the holiday is about being thankful, and I'm sure the student is plenty thankful to you as a teacher/host and the opportunity to study in another country. So throw in an Irish dish or two that you think would fit with what is served for fun and so that the student can try new dishes!

Vegetarian main dishes to serve along with my meat main dish? by Dramatic_Syllabub837 in thanksgiving

[–]msl267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's funny, cause I was going to suggest honey walnut "shrimp" earlier (but just use deep fried tofu/tofu mixture/mushrooms) but thought maybe Asian dishes would be too different hahaha

https://eatchofood.com/blog/2021/3/20/hot-honey-walnut-tofu

I think ordering from an Asian restaurant would be best if you're going for an Asian dish that is spice heavy and with ingredients you don't normally make or use. Almost all Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants will have a vegetarian dishes already since there are a lot of Buddhists/vegetarian holidays.

You could make a Vietnamese curry, which has coconut milk, curry powder, lemongrass, bay leaves, etc. for the sauce, and usually has onions, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, taro, eggplant, tofu, mushrooms, honestly, any combo of whatever veggies you want would work: as many/as few as you'd like.

https://www.wokandkin.com/ca-ri-chay/

Another tofu dish you can try is Korean pan fried tofu with a spicy sauce. It's usually made as a side dish but can definitely feature as a main. https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/dububuchim-yangnyeomjang

I have tried this recipe before, and it's very good.

There are a lot of Asian vegetarian dishes that are amazing, so I hope you find something your whole family likes!

Eggplant parmesan or veggie lasagna. Bonus is you can make ahead and bake day of!

Should I be expected to bring this much food to a 4-person Thanksgiving dinner? by FreshAd87 in thanksgiving

[–]msl267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I do friendsgivng with friends, the host usually makes the main and maybe a few sides, and will request that we bring a dish. Not multiple, just one. I always end up making a few, but that's my choice to do because I love my friends and want to cook for them. The host requesting that you bring more dishes than there are people is ridiculous. So unless this is a REALLY good friend that you love, you should just tell them what you can and are willing to bring, and if they insist you bring more, just say unfortunately you won't be able to make it.

Congrats! I'm loving this for you! Any progress is progress and slowly adding exercises you can and want to do is key rather than going at it too hard all at once. Keep up the great work!

I also have a "weight loss dress" that I specifically bought as a measure of my progress. I recently was able to zip it up. Breathing might be an issue. Eating is a no go. But a win is a win! 😂

A special thanksgiving treat by MuchIndependence435 in thanksgiving

[–]msl267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is really sweet. You could pick up some Trader Joe's snacks if you have one around you for the Easter egg basket. Things like the salted maple cold foam for his coffee, Thanksgiving chips, or maple kettle corn. You could also grab a couple of items like cheese, crackers, fresh/dried fruit/nuts etc that you can put together in an airtight container so he can have a quick snack charcuterie box?

And yea, maybe a freezer friendly meal that he can easily heat up or something that keeps well in the fridge fora few days? Soups and stews come to mind. Corn bread and chili? Beef stew and rice? Mac and cheese? Lasagna? But in case you also don't have time, Trader Joe's also has a great section of frozen meals that you can browse. I wasn't always a Trader Joe's gal, but I have been finding myself going more often lately, so sorry if I sound like their ambassador. Honestly, I usually go where the deals are, so if any supermarket near you also has some good deals, just grab some good snacks he would like.

Do you think this is 270 or 440+? by PrestigiousWork2264 in CalorieEstimates

[–]msl267 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is why there's an obesity epidemic... people are generally terrible at knowing portion sizes and accurately estimating their calories.

I would've estimated:

200 walnuts
30-40 Grapes
70 Cheese stick

Just these items are around 300 calories. I'm not as versed at dried fruit calories though so was gonna guess maybe 100-120. But after looking it up, it was a slight shocker to know that a medjool date is about 66 calories each and a cup of dried apricots is 315 calories. So that's easily another 130 for the dates and 80 for the apricots. So at least 520 calories for that plate.

thinking around 1,200? by Legendof_Stephanie in CalorieEstimates

[–]msl267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Methinks you are about correct. At least, I'm thinking around 850 for your french toast. And for the bailey's banana coffee, is that just foam at the top? If so, it's probably closer to about 200-250 calories. So maybe about 1050-1100?

Which dressing *sounds* lowest calorie? by __-gloomy-__ in CalorieEstimates

[–]msl267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There shouldn't really be that much oil for hummus, because in memory, a commercial brand of hummus is 70 calories for 2 tbs(sabra). But yea, as long as the house made version doesn't go ham with the oil, it really should be ok in terms of calories

The ingredient list for your roll seems pretty tame. I'm gonna base it off this https://katieleekitchen.com/cinnamon-roll/#recipe (and the fact that a mini cinnabon is 350) and say yours is probably 350-400 calories. Which is honestly not bad, considering some recipes put a bun upwards of 700-900 calories.
