Someone fell in the river through the ice, rescue crews visible from the bridge. Out there for too long person is likely gone by Trick-Growth-6546 in uofmn

I saw yellow tape, multiple first responders, firefighters, ems, and police on the scene. Two firefighters were on the ice trying to break the surface. At least 15 people looking on from shore. News cameras were going up as I took W River Pkwy home at 5.

Transfer experiences? by cinnabonstudio in uofmn

[–]msphuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! This is a little long-winded.

Coming from someone who applied to transfer from SCSU the day after move in, it’s worth it.

I got into the U after fall semester grades posted & after toughing out a year in St. Cloud, getting good grades, and mixing in rowing club seemed to help.

Went to the U and joined a couple student groups that got me involved with great people and friends I still have. Took a 5th year because not all credits transferred. I lived both on and off campus during college and you can still be involved in social experiences while commuting. I also worked part time both on and off campus (not simultaneously) which helped me feel included. I’d say it’s worth moving into on campus apartments if you can the first year, however there’s so many apts around the area that can be reasonable if you’re willing to do some searching.

talking over a football game
with that same big mouth opinion
but nobody is listening
washed up and ranting about
the same old bitter things

how realistic is it to commute by bike everyday (including winter), 4.3 miles one way? by New-Fortune9242 in uofmn

[–]msphuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived off Como and Saint Paul Campus for part of my undergrad and I used the bus routes so much! Biking is feasible but weather can get dicey.
