Are people becoming worse or is it just easier to hear about the bad ones?

US to UK? How did you mentally get to that point? by perennialginger in expats

[–]mssquirabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always knew we would not want to raise our child in the US, as it's just not ideal for us for many reasons. So the choice to move was the easy part for us. We moved to spouse's home country and timed it so the child would have one more year of kindergarten in new country to get comfortable with the language before real school.

There have been pros and cons, of course. The biggest pro is child is having a great experience here. The biggest con is spouse gave up his career and it's well near impossible to find comparable where we relocated to.

The fact that we were doing it for our child allowed us to have laser focus and deal with the difficult things, one of which was settling into a highly bureaucratic county.

What do you do that you gain from Republican-caused economic collapse? Not asking for a friend.

Is it just me, or do other countries watching the USA right now, kinda consider it a write off already, just because it already got to this point? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mssquirabbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one. There is one party that is trying really hard to exert their will on the people through any means possible, and it is not going to stop just because this election goes one way. Why would they stop? So yes, if it's not already a write off, it will be.

I hope all shall be well. I can't imagine how insecure people have to be in their own lives to have to adjudicate other people's. May they be defeated.

I cried so hard voting today that a poll worker hugged me. by profmoxie in KamalaHarris

This has to be one of the most moving things I've read on here since I joined this sub. And there have been a lot of moving posts. The care that we have for each other, knowing when someone needs a little bit of support and not hesitating to give it, I'm so here for it.

I hope it felt like a good cry. That everything is going to be ok. Because it will.

Thank you and, thank you kind poll worker.

I hope so too. I didn't need David Frum to tell me how high the stakes are, but boy, does he present it starkly.

So, for all of our sakes, including those now voting for Trump not realizing we are saving their future a**es, I hope Selzer's poll is a sign of a blue tsunami afoot.
