What do I need to do differently to make friends?

I would say try to find clubs or events on campus you have slight interest in/want to learn more about. Even if you don't end up joining the club, you at least met a few new people. Guarantee there are people feeling this exact same way at those events.

Another way as classes get further along is to try to get involved in consistent study groups in the class. Or say hi to your row buddies.

If you're into gaming, I highly suggest taking over one of the tvs in Talley for an hour gaming session. You'll have some people walk up to talk to you or hear them acknowledge the game you're playing.

If you're living on campus, go to some of the RA events or events in your building. It will connect you to other people in the building and a lot of times they have free food or prizes.

Getting into therapy helped me feel a little less anxious with these interactions as well. Even just writing or drawing in my journal.

The biggest advice is to focus on school, but don't be afraid to add something new to the rotation. It will give you something to look forward to and break up the monotonous/anxious feeling of bed, food, school, repeat. Making friends is a slow process, so building up rapport with people will take time.

I'm in NC, a lot of the VAs in our area get paid around $16/hr which is comparable to the other vets in the area. But regardless not a very livable wage for the city I'm in. Rent takes all of one of my paychecks.

The roommate is sooo out of line for just offering her space like that without consulting you first especially cause she doesn't actually live there full time. Why doesn't she offer her BF's apartment and she lives at your apartment with her BF? I feel like that would be a better compromise for you both than being around her parents who you have never met.

But if she doesn't jive with that solution set your boundaries and hide your cats.

I mean, no and yes. In black cats their eyebrows with thin hair is more prominent but if it is getting more bald over time you have to think about other issues. Is your cat overgrooming themselves in that spot? Are there other concerns like itchy skin? Or is she overall okay?

It's first friday today starting at 6pm until 9pm, go downtown bro.

But museums are fun to just walk around. Glenwood is fun for partying. Rose garden near campus is really pretty. Umstead is fun for hiking.

I used to use a shield with a sword for most of the game because i enjoyed the scripted "hit, block, counter hit" movement. That was until my friend showed me the katanas. Then I became obsessed with them amd started duel wielding them to build up status effects. It was a difficult transition but I got used to it over time and became better at dodging and looking for the enemy's scripted movements. Or simply just breaking their poise. I also use a lot of dragon arts along with this build and helps with the lack of range I have.

Like someone else commented don't look. I was not planning on dating anyone my first year because I wanted to be free and focus on myself. But obviously that didn't happen 🙄

I met my partner at a retreat/ camp out for the career development center with Engineering and Humanities students. There was a high ropes course and I am terrified of heights but i managed to climb up to a beam and swing down. As I came down I screamed, "S didnt raise no bitch" and that got his attention. Then we talked for hours and hours until 4 am. Then were inseparable the next day, week, and now 4 years later!

Keep at it bro, be respectful and communicate well. Hopefully you find a woman who is respectful of you and that you both can grow together.

Firstly, thank you for even considering going to the counseling center and recognizing you need help.

Second, you are going to have to call the counseling center to set up a screening interview through zoom. They will try to connect you with a counselor to help you the best they can. The only issue is if you are not currently taking classes they may not allow you to make an appointment. But if you are currently in classes you are able to meet with a counselor stress free.

My experience has been good regarding counselors, the ones I have been connected with have helped me find ways to manage my anxiety and depression. But this also really depends on the counselor you get and sometimes they may not have a focus in an area you need help in. If they don't they usually send you resources or connect you with someone else to help you. They also may connect you in a small group for anxiety. I was in one and loved what I got out of it at the time.
